I think Dean has developed more over the last few games and has become a more confident shooter with more playing time. He definitely brings more physicality to the table than Baker. If he starts baker and baker struggles offensively then give him the quick hook and put Dean in. Baker is a defensive liability most of the time. Also need big game from Reed after his pathetic performance against Miss St. And wright also. haven't seen him have back to back bad games so he should show up. I expect them to be up for this game and since the last one was close don't think they will be taking anything for granted. Because of size difference we should be getting to FT a lot. Hit. Your. Free Throws! Should be difference in the game.

McMen talk more about Wade in March than the General’s trusty soldiers do.

North Texas is a good defensive team. Not as good as State but maybe on par with A&M. However, they can struggle offensively. Lsu needs to come out hot and force UNT into an offensive game.

Too many still fawning over Will Wade who actually get to coach in the NCAA tourney this season
I wish the M in my avatar fav logo stood for McNeese and not Memphis. A travesty.

One last plea to see at least one 4-minute stretch where we play Fountain and Reed together.
It's the end of the season, so why not. But that also could be a disaster of awful ballhandling.
You're going to have to explain this one to me Alt.

Plus other teams will just run them off high ball screens and exploit them and therefor us, defensively...which is basically what they did all year.
No 7 footers on North Texas so maybe McMahon won’t feel like he has to have either Baker or Dean on the floor at all times.

Simple.
When those two chose to put it on the floor there is a high probability of sloppy ball handling.
I’m not saying he shouldn’t have tried it. LSU hasn’t necessarily been great with any lineup. But McMahon allows them to try to take guys off the dribble. A lot of the time it results in a turnover

And Dean and Baker are great at it? Or put another way...any better at it? Baker does that backdown shimmy dribble constantly, turned it over twice doing it.

No. But a guy like Dean seems to know his limitations and won’t try to put it on the floor. Again, I’m not saying it wouldn’t have been worth a look. I just can’t say without having seen it that it would have been significantly better.
Frankly, I’m not always sure what LSU is trying to do offensively.

Yeah, man look - I like Dean for what he is...but quite honestly he's not much better than Baker on D, and rebounds better than Baker...but still not good at it relative to the level we play at and the position he plays.
He's as you say limited and if he plays more than 10 or 15 minutes a game that will more often than not be revealed over time.
I just like the idea of trying a more athletic team that can at least give us some more defensive versatility - help on switches etc.
For example at the end last night when we are pressing, we have either Baker or Dean at the back of the press...cmon man they ain't stopping anyone at the back end after a press is broken, at least Reed blocks a shot every now and then.
