Amateurs talk about tactics; professionals talk about logistics. No one, even amongst the Allies, did it better than the U.S.
What the US was able to accomplish logistically in WW2 shocked the other global powers. They all knew at that point there was only one true global superpower. When our country is all pulling in the same direction against a common enemy we are unstoppable.
The Germans were an absolute disaster logistically and that might be an even greater reason for their loss than lend lease.

A good many of them died in the gulags.

This a hundred times over. Not enough room to get into all the details, but supporting a two-front war (which included sustained naval and aerial bombing operations) while also supplying our allies and while maintaining a high tempo of action was unbelievable.

Add the Japanese, too.

Can't recall whether it was Ike, Patton or Marshall who said it, but one of them said the three most critical weapons that won WWII were the Jeep, the M1 Garand, and the DC-3.
Patton said the M1 was the best battle implement ever devised.
Eisenhower said the 4 most important pieces of equipment were the bulldozer, jeep, 2.5 ton truck and c47. all logistics related.
That's what I get from going by memory! At least the C47=DC-3. I should get partial credit on the test.

The Panama Canal was the most heavily defended place on earth during WWII for good reason.

If Hitler and Stalin couldn’t resist screwing each other over for it would be a drastically different world today.

Don’t forget the 50M people that died from Spanish Flu.

A close family member of mine served in Vietnam after being drafted at 18. No college deferment or draft dodging for him. That war would have lasted a few months without these deferments, which were for upper middle class and wealthier young men. Maybe some of that happened in WW2, but probably not on the same scale.

I would say everyone considered Russia as a superpower. It wasn’t just the US.
Quantity has a quality of its own.

Wild. And it explains so much about Russia’s perspective on the world.
Same can be said for what happened to France in World War 1. They still haven’t recovered.

Two generations of Europeans were gutted. Germany, France, and Russia basically lost all of their capable young men—twice— in a span of thirty years.

Sure they were a regional superpower and #2 in the world but the soviets could never project power conventionally on a global scale.
Now, nukes I guess is a whole other power on its own and they could compete there.
But I’m talking about what the US was able to accomplish in WW2 had never been seen before. Even at the pinnacle of the Soviet Union they couldn’t dream about doing that

If we had to rank counties, USA would clearly be #1 coming out of WWII. Not disputing that. But Russia would be in the same tier.
Think about how many wars were fought to stop Russian communism. They were absolutely considered a super power.
If the world didn’t consider them a super power, the threat of communism would have never spread.

Equipping the P-51 Mustang with under wing drop tanks was the turning point in the air war in Europe
