LSU v McNeese Strength Of Schedule in men’s basketball

Strength of schedule
NOTE: The link above is from “TeamRankings”. It may not be the official ranking used by the SEC or NCAA
With all of this bullshite banter going back and forth between McMahon/LSU fans and the delusional Wade/McNeese fans on this board, I looked at the SOS between the teams.
First LSU, in year two of a complete rebuild, is sitting at a SOS of 72 as of today (3/15/24). That is almost dead last (13/14) amongst SEC teams at this point. Only media darling USCe is lower, currently at 79, & they just lost by 31 to Auburn in the SECT. Surprisingly, Miss (55), Aub (57) & UK (58) were also fairly low for such a strong conference.
Now let’s look at Will Wade & the all powerful McNeese State’s SOS. If you scroll all the way to the very bottom of this link, you will see NC Central at 362. Now scroll up 4 spots to McNeese at 358. Only 4 teams in D1 BB played an easier schedule than WW this year. Pretty pathetic.
Other in state schools you ask?
Southeastern - 318
Grambling - 324
Southern - 332
UNO - 336
All finished with a SOS at least 32 spots higher than McNeese. Great job Will. Right now they are a projected 13 seed and slated to face a 4 seed in Alabama. Good luck, General!

Is there a reason you didnt include RPI numbers from the same website you linked?
Probably because
McNeese- 51
LSU- 120

One team is dancing the other is watching.

You are shocked that a Southland team has worse sos than LSU? Or are you mad that LSU has a bad sos within the conference?
Posted on 3/15/24 at 5:25 pm to DamnStrong
Just when I think you people can’t be anymore stupid you break new ground.

Just a reminder, we lost to Nicholls.
Also, these posts don’t help shite.

LSU’s NET strength of schedule is 52.
RPI strength of schedule is 41.

I’m surprised a team that plays in the Southland Conference has a bad SOS.
McNeese played at Michigan this season and won. It’s not McNeese fault Michigan ended up being terrible. They stepped up, scheduled a big name, and took it.
30-3 and in the NCAA tournament and you’re strutting around about SOS. Pardon my French but you’re a fig.

Thanks for going through all the trouble of looking that up but let me point out the elephant in the room you somehow missed in all your exhaustive research. Mcneese somehow managed to make the tournament for the first time in 22 years. A fluke? A fortunate set of circumstances? Divine intervention? Maybe all of the above. The eye test should tell you that more than likely Wade is at least an above average ball coach. Did he make some horrific "bro what wtf were you thinking" kind of mistakes? Yep. He did. He's also very young. I did some stupid af shite when I was his age. Wade had a lot of success at a young age as a coach which led to some mistakes. I don't understand why we are so quick to be understanding when a young athlete makes tragic mistakes yet a young coach is expected to be more human than human. Hell I don't know maybe Wade found a way to cheat his way into the tournament. Either way I know I'd be a lot more excited about LSU basketball with Wade at the helm than our current coach.

This is so sad.
You should stop and take a long, hard look at yourself if you are comparing the seasons of LSU and McNeese State.
That tells us all we need to know about the coaching jobs being performed at the two schools.

Thanks to Woody. Wade was his scape goat.
However in about a week, McNeese fans can still watch their team compete at the highest level. If they are hot, they may win a game.
LSU Fans will have to console themselves with Baseball and women's Basketball.

This might've gone better if we didn't lose at home to a team in their conference that they beat by double digits 3 times.
Posted on 3/15/24 at 5:57 pm to DamnStrong
Oh MCNeese is not in the SEC? Dam.
Posted on 3/15/24 at 5:59 pm to DamnStrong
Dude LSU plays in the SEC. Mcneese plays in the Southland, which is a one bid league. Mcneese would have actually gotten consideration as an at large if they didn't win their conference, which says a whole hell of a lot.
But if this needed explaining to you, then you are way to dumb to understand the explanation.

They are going to be between an 11-13 seed. Do you understand what type of accomplishment that is for a school like McNeese?

You lost me right here. McNeese was terrible last year. Wade turned it around year 1.
LSU name alone should be able to attract better talent.
