HD is a huge asset to LSU, knows softball as well as any coach in the country anyone saying otherwise is clueless imo

What makes Bryce Neal a good hitting coach? I mean, what is he teaching the players to be better hitters? Flatter through the zone? Patience? Pitcher research? Stance?

I will say most really good hitting ppl don’t change a whole lot, they may tweak on the margins but typically you recruit players for a reason. What the good ones do imo is work on approach, what pitchers are doing to get a hitter out… Identify what pitches to hunt..what is our plan..how are we training to hit those pitches, train with velocity make the practice harder than the game…those type of things

Experienced team full of 4th year and 5th year seniors. Very good pitching staff. Good job recruiting top players. If we are going to win a NC, this will be the year. Everything appears to be aligned.

I think the entire staff should be commended, Neal wasn’t there when they were recruited so that credit should go to the other 3. Has Neal helped? sure but that is what he was hired for, it’s kinda like hiring Baker for DC…he didn’t recruit Perkins but he sure can help him reach his potential

the big gal that coached 1st & took a head job elsewhere cared more about baptizing and culting players than improving their play was a huge win for LSU

Raeleen Gutierrez getting it figured out is a huge plus from previous years. And just think Kelley Lynch hasn't really gotten it going yet. When she does this already potent lineup becomes that much more formidable.
Sierra Daniel has come up big with Petty and Coffey injured. Her emergence has been a major factor in the streak.

Everyone keeps saying the seniors are carrying the team and I guess I agree to a point but this team also has a lot of ladies that aren’t seniors contributing. Berzon is a Soph, Bergeron is a soph, Chaffin is a Junior, Daniel a freshman, Redoutey is a Junior. So there will be a good core returning next year. Hopefully the staff will be able to work the portal to fill the big holes that will be left.

Not trying to say he doesn't know softball overall but its fairly obvious that the hitting struggled the last 5 years or so and then they finally bring in some new assistants (one of which is a hitting specialist) and its like night and day.
This to me, is similar to Ensminger at OC in 2018 and then they bring in Joe Brady and 2019 was insane. Its not that E doesn't know football, its that the new guy is up to date on the trends and breathes life into the program.

And don't forget that Coffey plans to come back next year from what I'm reading...
Just think... we were just a couple of minutes away from having the top pitching transfer come to us from the portal this summer. We might not have lost a game this year and still might not lose a game...

He knows the rules better than most and is invaluable to Beth during games BUT as a hitting coach he is suspect. If you don't believe it just by looking at his history with this team, all you have to do is go look at his record with USA Softball. He turned some of the best hitters in the world into a Conference USA level offense.

Six of the nine starters this year are either seniors or graduate students. We lost Danica Coffey. Danieca Coffey who was injured who was injured earlier this year. Also Bryce Neal replaced Lindsay Leftwich as an assistant coach
