Getting on base is the most important thing for a lead off hitter what difference does it make if it’s walks or hits?
He isn't gonna get those HBPs in SEC play. Not with our schedule. Even with a tightened zone he isn't gonna get the walks. He's gotta prove he can at least be a threat to hit. Otherwise they're just gonna pitch him straight up and get him out.

Johnson could go an unorthodox route and put say, Brady Neal there. But there really isn't anyone else hitting all that well that fits the profile as a 1-2 hitter right now.
Ive liked some of Braswell's contact but I also like where they have him right now, too.

Milam
Neal
White
Travenski
Jones
Frey
Bingham
Braswell
Kling
I’d like to see that order get a few games together

Why because they aren’t as fast as Kling?

There isn't. It isn't a knock on Kling to want him out of leadoff but he isn't ideal for it as of now. Milam, maybe. I don't hate braswell there but I also like him where he is

I get it but LH/RH ain’t the end all be all if you can’t hardly hit at all.

So the SEC pitchers are too good to give up walks but will give up hits?
I’ll grant you the HBP that’s not reliable but walks and working counts are and getting on base by any means is what matters

Swung out of his shoes with 2 strikes twice tonight.

Brady Neal has been really good.
Coming into tonight, Paxton Kling has been on base 33x vs 19 for Neal

LHP = you stack RH hitters
Great for LSU, because they are short on LH hitters this season

How many at bats have each had?
Posted on 3/12/24 at 8:45 pm to Lester Earl
Neal is batting 60 points higher, more hits in fewer abs, more doubles, more hrs, more tbs, and .300% higher in slugging.

Can you comprehend words? We've faced pretty weak competition. He isn't going to get HBP as much. The zone will tighten if it works like last year.

He doesn't work a ton of counts and he can't hit. I think he's a great player but we don't utilize his speed on the bags and he can't hit. Sec pitching will dare him to swing and he hasn't been that guy so far.

So what’s your point? I’m not suggesting that Kling leave the lineup. I don’t think he should be lead off.

70 PA vs 50 PA
which also accentuates Neal's 30K% rate, which leads the team by a large margin.

With kling 3k’s today he now leads the team in strikeouts, from the leadoff position. There’s a positive!!
