Oppenheimer just slaughtered eveyone at the Oscars (yes, I know that means far less than it used to), basically winning everything except screenplay, but it begs the question, will Universal be smart enough to re-release the film in IMAX?

I know multiple people who have said they wanted to see the film in the theater now but missed it initial run.

The box office is also quite slow right now outside of Dune. They could easily make $20-30M over the next few weeks domestic, right?

I enjoyed the movie, but have no idea why folks would wanna pay extra to watch people talking in classrooms and hearings in imax. The only big screen worthy scene is the Trinity test scene and even that felt underwhelming

Of course it will, but you have to look outside mainstream chains for it anytime soon. Alamo regularly does screenings of movies that have already been released. This includes Full Metal Jacket, All Quiet on the Western Front, Saving Private Ryan, and many others.

AMC and Star Cinema will likely do not much, because the clientele isn't right. There's also open to you asking for a re-screening, and the manager will grab the movie. Say you're going to commit a certain food and bev spend, and they'll find a slot for your peeps.

If you make sure the servers make money, they'll find the room to play Goonies or whatever you want.

I don't think this movie justifies seeing it in IMAX, in theatre yes, but not in IMAX. It is more of a drama, just my opinion. Fantastic movie, it deserves all the praise it is getting.

I just don't see why this movie needed an imax release.

Almost all of Nolan's other movies make sense in imax but this one just doesn't.

Great movie though

It feels like they wrung all the cash they could out of the theatrical release. It grossed about $330 million, which ain't bad for a three hour biopic of a physicist. Plus they made a big splash recently about the streaming version popping up on Peacock.

The real question is..............can they make money if they do a re-release?

Everything from here on out is about $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
