Sound like you're worried when they are down a run

it will.

last year the weather early was much more hitter friendly than normal.

this ear is much closer to a typical early season in Baton Rouge, so we look to be starting slower.
the weather patterns will shift and the bats will heat up.

This is what’s it’s like every single fricking time we get down in a game. You frickers are insufferable.

No one has looked very impressive this whole week.

Maybe Milam

Seems like we struggle every time the wind is blowing in

Feel like we are too reliant on the power ball right now, and whenever we need to get the little dunk base hits and string together some hits, those games end up coming down to the later innings

That being said I thought last years team suffered from the same issue for quite some time, it’s just important to remember that what we are isn’t necessarily what we will be

we are 30th in the country and 4th (if my count is correct) in the SEC in BA, going into the weekend. We haven't been great this weekend, but we are doing fine at the plate.

I’ve actually said that since day one, not worried about the bullpen, but more concerned about the hitting and defense

Defense is settling in, but the bats are concerning

Never expected them to hit as good as last year but it's pretty much impossible to draw any conclusions, positive or negative, at this point in the season.

Hitting is definitely the weakness now

But

They’ll get it figured out

They’re in the top half of the SEC in almost all offensive stats.

2024 SEC baseball team statistics

Still, hard to believe we only could average 4 runs/game against Xavier and Southeastern this week headed into SEC play.

Xavier's 8th-inning pitcher looked like he was throwing in an overhand softball league and got Jones to swing at three pitches a foot off the plate. Coach Johnson will not be happy.

I'm getting that way. It's not so much they are not hitting, because they are. It's that the boys are swinging at mediocre pitchers junk pitches. They have not been seeing the ball great and breaking balls are eating them up.

I hope pitch recognition gets much better. Which it will as the season goes on. But now we start facing SEC pitching. We need to pick it up at the plate.

It’s the reverse of football season

Best offense no defense

Baseball best pitching no offense

Felt like a CPM game. JJ will get these boys rolling though.

It was a bad week for the bats

In a coma for 8 innings in Hammond

Hitless over the last six innings on Friday and probably only plate one run were it not for some shaky defense by Xavier.

Today is one of the worst pre-conference rent-a-win performances I can remember. To give up two runs on a Sunday to Xavier and lose is unfathomable.
