I was just hoping for 6 wins so credit where it’s due
Wish we could’ve avoided a couple of those nonconference setbacks

I predicted 6 SEC wins, great job by Mac.

Our OOC schedule was rough.. we played a lot of good teams.
8-5 going into SEC play is hard to recover from and our NET ranking was cooked from the start.
We need to hire the same analytics company that Wade did to help make our schedule. 9-9 with a better OOC schedule and we could be dancing

I’m pretty sure Wade was the analytics company. He controlled that schedule and knew more than just about anyone on how that nitty gritty would play out. Basketball coaches, including McMahon, fill in games and make final determinations for OOC. It is why Mulkey talks so much about team experience and not scheduling too hard OOC when she didn’t know what she would have.
The NET is terrible and the SEC is good this year.
With that, I said if this team gets to 15+ wins McMahon has another 2 years to go dancing. I believe that to be fair considering it is FAR easier to turn around a basketball program than football.

Exactly. I said 6 wins at the start of conference play so this has been great. Trae Hannibal at point was a revelation and some of the youngsters have stepped up big so the core of the team looks good. We add a few more pieces from the portal and we go dancing!!!

Or we could just beat those above average teams that we lost to.

Never mind the win at home against Kentucky or the road win at Carolina.

Yes it was ugly the last 3 minutes. Refs also made some terrible calls and non calls. But for the first 16 minutes of the second half they played outstanding basketball. It happens. It’s why Mizzou can be up with 5 minutes to go against Fl. It’s why AL can get blown out by FL. A team we only lost to by 2 on the road. When LSU doesn’t turn the ball over and rebounds they can play with just about anyone.

First, you should care how ugly the last 2:30 minutes were against the worst team in the conference at home! Second, how can you not turnaround from 2-16 in the conference? That is like saying, "hey we are the on stern of the ship sinking by the bow!" I don't know the "dance" of which you speak but it "ain't" going to be the NCAA tournament. LSU is hell and back away from being in that one! Once again, LSU is missing so many pieces...a big man who can actually be a force...an outside shooter you can depend on to carry you...obviously consistent defense where you don't give up 24 points in 2:30 to one of the worst teams in NCAA basketball. Next year will be McMahon's judgment day and I don't think any of the spin given here will mean squat.
But take that dramamine and spin away.

Wade is incredibly intelligent when it comes to scheduling and analytics. No doubt.
But he did outsource his scheduling, he talked about it on the podcast he used to do before he got hired at McNeese.

Overrated USC team and a washed up coach Cal. Big deal. WW beat Cal 5 years ago IN Lexington. Not the flex you think it is bub

The hyperbole in both directions is ridiculous.
LSU did not have a "great" season this year. And McMahon did not do a "great" job. But LSU was absolutely improved from not just last season, but the non-conference part of the schedule. And they did it mostly without the guy (Cook) who was looked at as the one player LSU had to have to have a chance to win games.
Beating South Carolina on their home court this season was a big win. Is USC probably a bit overrated going into the tournament? Yes. But winning there this year wasn't easy. Likewise, beating Kentucky was a good win...even if they aren't as dominant as they have been in the past. LSU also had a handful of games where is a possession here or there goes differently we may be talking about LSU being a potential NCAA Tournament team.
So while it is ridiculous to say he did a "great" job, in any context, it is equally ridiculous to not give him credit for significant in-year improvement once conference play started.
