Why is Reddit such a leftist cesspool?

On one hand its nice for some hobbies that I have like 3D printing, genealogy, woodworking, and D&D. While on the other hand even the ones that could barely be considered political subreddits like USHistory or the any of the "insert state here" subreddits are absolutely littered with potato brained leftists. Even the most red states like Oklahoma and West Virginia look like they are farther left than California on reddit.

I don't know the answer but my experience has been the same. This is pure speculation, but I'm guessing it has something to do with the moderation combined with the downvoting / hiding posts that increases the echo chamber feel.

Because they ban all conservative thought, leaving you with a bunch of gobblecock leftists who live in mommy’s basement eating edamame and hot pockets all day

it just another tool of the lefts machine. anywhere that teens and young adults have potential to get their news and information is going to be a liberal cesspool by design. it adds to the false sentiment that the world is more liberal than conservative and you dont fit in if you dont think the way "we" do. thats why all social media is rampant with bot farms sowing these false sentiments.

Because you get banned if you dare speak against the grain.

Reddit is what you get when ideological simpletons gain a little power.

It’s filled with a lot of white male losers. Kind of guys that make $50k at some dead end job and vote based on jealousy and/or their blue haired partner.

Depends on your definition of 'leftist'. Anyone on here that doesn't worship Donald Trump is considered a 'leftist' or a 'liberal' despite that not being true.

I know reddit is mostly leftists, but it does have a subreddit called Conservative. I've read a few threads in there. They have a few other conservative subreddits, too. I know it's a drop in the bucket compared to the rest of reddit, but at least it's something.

The CCP literally has part ownership of the site so that’s why.

Reddit moderators are a big reason:

After that it's the fact that the SF/LA/NYC/Seattle/Boston contingent dominates the site in the most popular sub-reddit.

The founders are dyed in the wool leftwingers from San Francisco. Reddit was created via Y-Combinator.

Alexis Ohanian, Serena Willaims husband, still has his little victim whines are Twitter from time to time.

The problem with tech is most of those folks have both an inferiority complex and superiority complex. They are very conscious of the inferior aspects of their personality and often seek to assert their power in passive aggressive ways, like banning people they don't like. They larp as dictators basically.

It's dominated by left wing college age-ish students 18-30 with super radical left trans moderators always looking to get off on banning folks like a King chopping off heads.

It was created by big tech oligarchs wishing to control narratives set forth by the IC.

Even Telegram and Elon’s X, arguably the 2 least censored “mainstream” platforms have their limits on free speech.

Rumble is pretty free as well.

The rest of these platforms have their limits and rules, you have to navigate them with that knowledge or else face the consequences.

I’ve had to learn my lesson here, I have, and will play by the rules moving forward.

Any organization not explicitly right wing becomes left wing.

I’ve checked out the New Orleans subreddit occasionally. They seem like cynical, critical social misfits. They lash out and complain about everything, hate “the rich”, despise their landlords, hate Trump and Republicans obviously, can’t afford anything, and look for handouts and freebies. Latoya is a polarizing figure on there, as she takes plenty of heat. Seems to be lower wage folks and plenty of career service industry folks.

It's where urban message board people ultimately flocked.

College football message boards (especially pre-Trump) were where more conservative people had flocked prior to Reddit, funny enough.

Most subreddits aren't that political, though.

*ETA: Trump/MAGA did have huge subs prior to Charlottesville, right? I only do Reddit in small doses for specific questions.

Twitter was just as bad or worse before Elon purged the bots.
