I live in Oklahoma but I'm on the border. One of my friends owns a good amount of land in Hendrix, OK where they built the new bridge. At least once a week out of the blue, someone from Texas pulls up to his house and asks him to sell a few acres on the asphalt highway so they can build a house.

Property values and property taxes in Texas are way higher just a handful if miles away.

police shortages

Did you guys read it? They didn't defend the police force. A city council elected to make new office contracts shorter, and a bunch of cops have retired in the past year. That, combined with cops being unable to effectively recruit people into doing a shitty job, has created the shortages.

But hey, let's blame the boogeyman anyway.

Behind women's suffrage, BLM is probably the most ridiculous movement in the history of this country. Anyone who even somewhat kinda sympathized with the movement is beyond retarded. Like grab your bicycle helmet and crayons and go play in the corner retarded.

The funniest part of this was all of the morons saying stuff like "well, I support the movement but not the organization" as if the two could be separated.

This country went full retard in 2020 because a career felon overdosed and ended his worthless life. It is even more staggering in hindsight how stupid a lot of people revealed themselves to be.

Go on the Nextdoor app for some of these communities. Crime is rising everywhere. There was a shooting in lakeway not long ago.

Steiner Ranch and Spicewood have also seen an uptick in crime.

So you see the problem. Good. That is step one. Now, think about how they got there. You can do it, I promise you.

Defunding the police was the first step in the beginning of Mao’s cultural revolution which ended with tyrannical CCP rule and millions slaughtered along the way.

Well that’s a direct correlation to Austin.
You don’t see crime, failed public policy, abhorrent infrastructure, and the decay of society flowing from those communities into Austin. It’s a one way Democratic street.

Gotta give the despicable left credit: they recognized the perfect place to establish the indoctrination camps and they took it over. Now they are reaping the political rewards.

The “boogeyman” that you so quickly dismiss is the reason for all the retirements, recruiting problems, and shittiness of the job. Can you honestly not see that?

Yep. Defund the police and the populace will beg for protection. The govt will call it an emergency and use it to expand military control with military policing. Most of the military police will be from other areas of the country so they will be less sympathetic to the populace, and therefore easier to control

You could disband the county sheriff's department where I live in in Oklahoma and I wouldn't even notice. Try that shite in a small town.

The problem is that you can't stick that many people with mental illnesses in a confined area without having problems.

Yes they did. They voted to defund after the BLM riots and use the money they cut elsewhere. The Texas legislature forced them to change. Since they were forced to fund the department they used the contract bs to effectively gut the police department

Unfortunately it will have to hit rock bottom before anything actually changes. I'm not sure what that looks like but I doubt it will be allowed to get to that point. Instead, its going to stay a permanently mediocre place to live.

The parking thief’s are the real fricking criminals so far:

Been charged 29 dollars twice to get out of parking garage that had zero parking spaces, plus took 45 minutes once to try to turn around as there were probably 3 dozen other cars trying to do same thing.

And 150 dollars for parking in a pay lot at 10:30 pm one night at a bar that had with a 12 x 6 inch sign that was blocked by a truck. (They booted me)
I thought it was parking for the bar, but in fact almost no bar or restaurant downtown has any parking. I was there for 30 minutes.
