Okay enlighten me

Coonass territory is a very small part of the state. Brackish water areas where people are still involved in commercial fishing. Anything outside of that may be “Cajun,” but it’s not “coonass.”

Which have a population of around 1 million added to CENLA and NLA.

South more coonasses, north redneck, that's the general rule. but you have some places like Livingston parish and the other florida parishes that's more redneck

No doubt. Old people from Tangipahoa sounded like they were from some other foghorn leghorn southern state.

50 something percent of the state is Protestant, and 20 something percent is Catholic. That’s probably your answer.
A bit surprising as someone who has only lived in the Acadiana area and New Orleans, but apparently the rednecks from Baton Rouge and nothern LA have us out numbered

Wait no way? I thought North Louisiana was Cajun and South Louisiana was redneck?

WP was recently referred to as the doormat to Mississippi and that shite stuck with me. We did get some south of I-10 folk after Katrina so there’s a mix.

Nola people are yats. True coonasses are probably about 25% of the state.

Avoyelles
Southwest Avoyelles: Bunkie, blacks and white trash Ducotes
South Avoyelles: Coonasses and baws that love Lafayette
Southeastern Avoyelles: Fishermen and plant baws that love Baton Rouge
Central Avoyelles: Service workers and blacks that love Tunica Biloxi Indians
Northern Avoyelles: North of Red River are rednecks who love Alexandria/Pineville. Medical workers or meth heads

This is a very detailed outline of a single parish. Might be over analyzing this just a little.

People try to lump Nola Yats with Cajun people. Definitely two totally separate groups.

Agreed. They are completely different imo.

North to south here’s the groups:
Rednecks
Prairie Cajuns
River rats
Bayou Cajuns
Yats
Rednecks
Prairie Cajuns
River rats
Bayou Cajuns
Yats

I wasn’t saying that I consider people in New Orleans as Cajuns, just that the two areas that I’ve lived in have the fewest number of rednecks in them. Essentially I’m not around rednecks a whole lot, so it surprised me that there are more of them.
