Local insurance vs national (Allstate) for home owner coverage?

Here's my current coverage through Allstate:
Home purchase amount: $235k in 2020; $1217/month mortgage with PMI
Total Premium: $1445; Applied Discounts: $975
Dwelling Protection $443,410; Deductible: $1,000 All other perils; $4,434 Windstorm and Hail; $4,434 Tropical Cyclone
Other Structures Protection $44,341
Personal Property Protection $266,046
Family Liability Protection $300,000 each occurrence
Guest Medical Protection $1,000 each person
My roof is 15 years old, and it's had some issues. I've had multiple roofers advise that I leave Allstate for a local company as Allstate is a pain to agree to a roof replacement. The local one (supposedly) is great about actually replacing and covering damage. I've already had one issue with Allstate where they didn't agree that lightning caused damage to some appliances in my home (even though the appliances died within a few days after a lightning strike).
Here's the quote from the local company:
Total Premium: $1860; Applied Discounts: (Not listed)
Dwelling Protection $300,000; Deductible: $2,000 All other perils; $3000 Windstorm and Hail; $3000 Tropical Cyclone
Other Structures Protection $30,000
Personal Property Protection $150,000
Family Liability Protection $300,000 each occurrence
Guest Medical Protection $1,000 each person
So the local one is more expensive, higher deductible, and covers less. But they're recommended to be less of a hassle whereas the national company is known for being a pain the arse.

i didnt look at the user name at first so i was expecting another disgruntled Louisiana home owner.
then i saw the price of coverage and almost cried.

I use Larry's of Livingston. No complaints, yet.

That's how I feel about them too. But they're the cheapest rate and offer more coverage. They just don't...actually cover anything it seems.

You have a 15 year old roof that you acknowledge as having issues, yet you take the position that your insurance company should have to give you a new one. You want to pay a higher premium for that chance of it happening one day. I don’t get this way of thinking. You should be a renter, not a homeowner.
You ARE the problem sir, you are the reason we have the insurance crisis in Louisiana.
Unbelievable!

Will your “15 year old roof with some issues” pass the inspection that the new insurance company will do?

They will deny your claim for a new roof and then cancel you because of the condition of your roof. That's just the way it works.

I’m sure the local guy serving his community will be thrilled to pay for the replacement of your old and damaged roof.
You’re coming off as a scumbag itt which should really tell you something when the other side are insurance companies.

Insurance is not a maintenance plan for your roof.

I had a roof claim with Allstate a few years ago and it went fine.

If you have a claim with Allstate find an attorney.

if you leave for another insurance, they will write coverage and then send an underwriter to the home to inspect. Your roof will determined to need to be replaced in a short amount of time or the insurance will be canceled. You will then need to come out of pocket to replace the roof.
You will have fricked yourself.
