Not that I have looked into this at all, but isn't it just the pre-sale?

The white trash population absolutely loves this cat.

Should I give this guy a listen? I only know the one song with Lainey.
I think you should. Seems like a good dude, good entertainer. I like his music.

It ain’t country if it’s done by a morbidly obese White Rapper with a grill..This man is rolling over in his grave…

Dude is more authentically "southern" and country than 99 percent of these skinny jean wearing dudes repeating the same lyrics about "driving a jacked a truck and drinking a cold one by the river in the moonlight"
You mean he’s fat, uneducated, covered in shitty tattoos and has problems with drugs and alcohol?

His career has such a funny arc, I knew of Jelly Roll from being featured on pretty underground Lil Whyte albums, now he’s selling out arenas for country music

That’s pretty standard for most big concerts. That’s why I haven’t been to one in years I looked at tickets to U2 in the sphere in Vegas when I was there and they started at $750. I don’t like U2 but just thought it would be cool to see a concert in there
I don’t go to concerts per se, I’ll go to festivals and shows at small venues to see bands most people itt probably never heard of.

Objectively, there's nothing good about his music. It's truly, truly awful. I can't imagine a single music critic has given any of his work a strong score...because it's all fricking awful. Jelly Roll is what you get when rural/redneck dudes between 30-60 start to feel old, were never seriously into music much to begin with, and think, "ah ha! this is how I will seem cool...by discovering this new cat that mixes country with rap!". Pretty sad, actually.
there’s a shite ton of “white trash” people out there that have no outlet for their music, especially with the death of alternative rock on the radio
This is how Jelly Roll and Hardy fill the gap for rural America that grew up listening to both rock (Korn, Slipknot, Staind, Limp) and Country music. They relate to both the three chords and the truth country messages and the fricked up drug/alcohol/breakup heavy messages.
it’s easy to dismiss this segment of the population as politicians and “pop culture” sure as frick have
TLDR; get off your high horse IMO

I’m pretty confident these are same people who go to Nickelback & Creed concerts.
Is this where we pretend people don't like Nickelback and Creed? I have no real opinion on Jelly Roll, but can we move on from pretending popular things aren't actually popular?

I've been listening to Jelly for 10+ years and wish he never would have started this country crap. I prefer his songs about drugs, being poor, and just plain white trash things.

quote:I do see the appeal, it just doesn't appeal to me. If the people that listen to country radio hear a song over and over they begin to connect with it.
I really don’t understand the appeal.
That's because the goofy local / pop country stations or even on Sirius, Spotify aren't gonna feed you IMO what are young, real country music artists such as Coulter Wall and Charlie Crockett (big Louisiana influence). Are you Jelly Roll fans gonna see them if they come to town? Here's a couple of songs by young, modern classic-styled country music artists:
Coulter Wall - Thirteen Silver Dollars
Charlie Crockett - The Man from Waco
