This team continues to crumble under pressure

We see it all the time. I don't accept no CJ and no Jose as a valid excuse. BI and Zion are your de facto #1 and #2 ball handlers. Together they just aren't good enough at PG to beat a physical defense when the refs won't call a foul. I'm sure better coaching could help, but at this point I don't think the question is who do you trade, the contracts make that an easy question to answer. The question is what do you try to get back? We've all had our eyes on a center, and Zion with Shooters makes a lot of sense, but do we possibly need to get a starting caliber PG, and if so, what does that do to CJs fit?

Need to commit to absolutely all in with Zion centric offense
Get the reps by doing it over and over and everyone knows their role.

I'm ready to trade BI and fire Willie Green. Let Borrego take over. This team lacked hustle and rebounding.

We probably had a chance to address trading BI over the Summer and could have explored doing it over the deadline.
They aren’t trading him.. it’s pretty obvious at this point. This is the Pelicans.

They just need a scorer with some clutch gene. Hawkins can be that guy but that's not happening this season.

I don't know what they are expecting to be different in the playoffs. BI averages 2.7 TOs per 36 minutes for his career. His playoff TOs, which is essentially the Phoenix series people feel he played really well in, he averaged 3.5 TOs

It's clear that is the best offense for this current team. Zion is by far the best playmaker on the team, and it's not even close.
But I still think obtaining a real point guard would help Zion and the team reach another level. Just tonight, there were at least 9-10 times where Zionbeat his defender off ball and should have received a pass for an easy dunk or layup.

Pels have the worst star duo in the West playoff race. They really are playing right at expectation if you factor that in

But Zion needs to commit to this as well. As in be in the ideal physical condition where he can be the focal point night in and night out. Not dominant for one game, a tad slower the next game and straight up sloppy by the third game.

Not disagreeing with you, but this is a pipe dream.

If we truly don't believe that Zion can ever get into the shape to be the true alpha on this team, then what we do around the team doesn't matter.
Our ceiling will never be anything more than a 2nd round playoff exit if Zion doesn't become that guy.

30mpg is not
35mpg but splitting duties with BI is not
35mpg, give the ball to Zion. Sink or swim. It's the only way we can find out if he's up to the challenge. We'll never know and always wonder if he could if we don't commit to it.

It's a chicken or egg argument, because I believe the only reason we have been so hesitant to give him the keys is because the belief is that he physically can't do it without eventually getting shutdown for injury.
I'm with you where I've reached the "frick it let the world burn" point, so just give Zion the ball and see what happens the rest of the way. But I just don't think that's ever going to fully happen because I can't see Willie fully hitching his wagon to someone who can't go more than 32mpg.

The alternative is we'll never know and never try certainly won't get us anywhere.

Part of our problem is Willie hitching his wagon to the wrong players on this team.

Well known fact that Willie green is not good with adjustments.
Many key players out means —need an adjustment. Willie is not good at adjustments.
It's circular and makes sense

Should have picked up Zach Collins or Nick Richards. The unit of bigs we have is embarrassingly bad. Nance shite the bed all night, JV had a clutch O Reb and putback late in the game and then brick handed the steal that would have given us the ball down 2 with 50 seconds left. I’ve been saying it’s unfortunate but we have no chance with our bigs

Correct, but that's also on Zion for being in year 5 of his career and is still in a spot where an argument can be made that he shouldn't be the focal point of the offense.
We can shite on Willie's basketball IQ all day long, but I refuse to believe that if Zion had progressed like he was supposed to, we wouldn't be having this argument over if Zion or BI should be the #1. Zion would've left zero doubt whose team this is and even an untrained baby giraffe would know who to run the offense through, let alone Willie.

I agree this is the issue. Zion needs a better coach to make him a better player but in the same regard Willie needs a better player to make him a better coach. Honestly, a decision between the two needs to be made.

Because they put the ball in BI's hands.
Lebum was onto something when he was more than happy to trade his arse.
Probably more sick of his fade away bullshite then me and that's saying something.
