I started reading the thread title and thought this was about a bird.

i would say definitely #1. Iran has the brain and manpower, but not the money thanks to sanctions.
Egypt has the manpower but not the brain power.
Those are really the only 2 contenders in the region that could potentially challenge that claim. I don't consider India nor Pakistan as middle east countries.

That was my observation as well. They don’t have a 5th gen they are building it. Its not production or combat ready after watching both links.

Maiden flights of military jets usually are short & they don't raise the landing gear

Next step is to begin designing one with retractable landing gear.

The F22 is the only 5th gen fighter that can actually be deployed and used to affect the outcome of a war.
Eta: and will be until our next 5th gen is deployable

I thought thrust vectoring was one of the top qualifications to be a 5th generation fighter? Isn’t that what makes the F35 not 5th generation?

Is it unable to retract the landing gear?

To me, the definition of 5th gen is in the same class as the F22. The SU57 is the only thing that theoretically might be able to claim that, and it's absolutely not combat deployable.
And we've had F22s battle ready for like 30 years now
Merica frick yea

F35 is 5th gen and is deployed. its rumoured that China's J-20 has been deployed around the south china sea and near india.

Fairly certain it’s technically not

I think the 35 is widely considered a 4+ and the J20 is rumored to be vastly over-sold on capability.
I'm sticking with my original statement.
