The quarterfinals should still be on campus but I digress since its a TV product anyway.

How wonderful that the champ from the SEC will get the same benefit as the winner of the AAC.

Trying to limit the number of SEC teams that'll make it.

So dumb that they are doing 5 auto-bids. It should be 3 or 4 at most. Realistically it should be zero.

What happens if Notre Dame goes 12-0 or 11-1?

If you're not a conference champion, looks like the sweet spot is #12. You'll probably play the conference champion from the PAC 2 or Group of 5 in the first round.

This will eventually just move to 5 from the SEC, 5 from the BIG10...2 at-larges...to give Notre Dame a route in.

And it probably will be reduced to 4 in a couple of years. The real power programs don't care what the auto number is; doesn't affect them.. But it is 2/3 of the P leagues, the 2/3 that has a rare chance at a playoff berth, the 2/3 who are in no way, shape or form a power program (they just happen to be in a league with a power program), who squawk at a G opportunity. After all, a G doesn't have to play Ga and Alabama every year.
Of course, the Gs also don't get $30-$50 million in TV revenue, that the non-power Ps get, but did little to earn.
And if you're a lucky P in the Big 12, and often the ACC, you don't have a Ga or Alabama to go through either.

In this thread:

A bunch of people who thought 4 was plenty enough are still bitching about auto-qualifiers to a 12-team playoff.

The best 4 will be in the playoff. Don’t worry.
