If SF still has the ball and time expires, do they add on another 15 min?

Yes
Then a halftime and 15 more minutes.

- Yes. No ties in the postseason.
- both teams get a chance to posses unless the defense scores.
- after both teams posses, next score wins.
- each team gets 3 timeouts every two OTs.

And if both teams score TD on their first drives, next team that score wins? Or do they play to 00:00?

Yes. After each team has had a chance to posses the ball, then the next score wins.

I’m probably being dumb, but what’s the point of the clock?
Posted on 2/11/24 at 9:41 pm to Black n Gold
Yeah I’m not understanding how the clock plays into this OT
Posted on 2/11/24 at 9:41 pm to Black n Gold
I assume it's to give easily defined breaks if the game goes long enough.

Of the period ends and KC has the ball but hasn’t scored, is it over?

My question is - what happens at end of OT 1? Does the occurring drive, at end of OT1 continue? Or is OT 2, a hard reset, like OT 1?

Clock is timestamp for score summaries, stats, breaks.
Clock in reg season is needed due to tie capability

Seemed like no one was quite sure the game was over for about 15 seconds after.

quote:I thought about this too; but it’s for the teams to switch directions after the quarter. Doesn’t matter much in a dome, but if it’s an outdoor game, a specific direction could have a larger effect on the game.

It’s like going from 1st QTR to 2nd QTR.
Drive continues from where it was.

Only if the game is tied.

That’s what I’m confused by. I don’t think this is the case, at least how they played at the end there

I was a little confused about what they were doing with the clock there, myself.
