Discusses the likely path - title of article:

“How can Saints clear $83M cap overage without cuts? It's actually pretty simple”

Although the whining couch GM’s on here think we’re doomed, we are NOT.

And theres only 4 (not including Carr) older contracts that would/could hurt if these players got too old.

“The next four players are also risky, but I don't think you really have a choice. This represents the most valid criticism of the Saints' cap strategy in that you end up committed to aging veterans longer than you might want to be. That said, I'm comfortable with how these players performed in 2023 and I don't see retirement coming any time soon.

- DE Cam Jordan: $9.4M
- LB Demario Davis: $8M
- QB Taysom Hill: $6.5M
- S Tyrann Mathieu: $6.5M”

Read it and learn crybabies.

DE Cam Jordan

Love him, but best years are already past...if he realizes this and helps us out, great. If not, he's earned it I guesd

Still amongst the best at what they do

You're comfortable with how cam performed?

Also there is no good way to spin the saint's cap issues.

They needlessly keep adding dummy yrs to every contract on the books.

Please explain to me why you ate adding dummy Years to a 3 yr 12 mil foster moreau contract.

You are comfortable with 2.0 sacks and 20 solo tackles? Love Cam, but he has to go.

12.5 2021
8.5 2022
2.0 2023

That’s an awful decline.

He’s a great dude and awesome locker room guy, but for this team, that does not equate to wins unfortunately

I could be the only fan that doesn't care about he cap anymore.

They will do what they have to do to get under the cap and will also make a few FA signing that everyone thinks is impossible. (and there will be endless arguments about whether or not those signings are good or bad)

I don't care how they do it I just want them to keep winning. It ain't my money. If the house comes crashing down and the Saints are terrible for a few years I'll still be a fan and won't be trying to jump off any cliffs.

Personally, I think we need a hard reset but that won’t happen until Allen is fired. Clear the cap and start the rebuild.

No one is worried about going over the cap. We understand that we can restructure contracts. We understand that the cap increases every single year. We simply would rather be in a position to 'acquire' potential FAs to add more talent/depth to our roster. Every year super bowl contenders make big moves in free agency. This roster is not good enough to win anything as is. We need to be 'acquiring' players, not 'restructuring' half of our roster.

Honey Badger should have never been signed and I love Cam but that extension isn’t looking hot right now. He hit the wall bad last year.

Loomis is to the cap what Bobby Jindal was to the State budget.
