No one gets re/elected by cutting federal spending. Cutting Medicare/caid spending, gutting defense, firing federal workers, defunding grants, etc. is completely contrary to politics so it's going to happen only with a gun to the head of Congress and the White House.
There may be a few who want a collapse, but I think the majority are just fricking dumb and/or selfish.

If every single tax payer paid the US govt 250k, our debt would be gone for a total of 1/100th of a second.

That would be awesome. Problem is, there are a ton of rainbow people who can fit that description.
I'm for poll tests. Just a 5 question pass/fail civics test on each ballot. You have to vote in person. The questions would be taken directly from the tests that immigrants have to take before becoming a citizen.
BTW, I wonder how long it's going to be before these insane Leftists want those tests abolished for immigrants? We all know it's coming.
