A review of dozens of published studies into the mechanisms behind neurological diseases has collected strong evidence that people who frequently pick their noses are at a higher risk of developing Alzheimer’s disease.
quote:
“Neuroinflammation in Alzheimer’s disease might be partially caused by viral, bacterial and fungal pathogens entering the brain through the nose and the olfactory system,” they wrote in the report.
Chronic nose-picking, medically known as rhinotillexomania, introduces germs into the sensitive nasal cavity that cause inflammation in the brain, which has been linked to the onset of Alzheimer’s disease.
quote:
Such infections can exist seemingly without symptoms on the outside but may cause inflammation below the surface, leaving behind harmful plaques of protein that contribute to the development of neurodegenerative diseases, including Alzheimer’s.

I've got a cousin who is completely fricked if this is the case.
On a side note, I'm picking up a case of Clorox wipes and making him an offer on his '68 Camaro just as soon as he starts thinking it is a horse and buggy.

You're good. That's like antivenom.

Damn man. I was literally picking my nose when I opened this thread.
Question: If you eat the buggers does it counteract the affects of Alzheimers?

I thought cocaine was supposed to kill the those pathogens. Did my dealer lie to me?

Draw us a causal diagram.
I’ve been doodling on my screen for a few minutes, but nothing is showing up.
Basically, pathogens are introduced into the olfactory system by your nasty fingers. Brain’s immune response builds brain proteins that ultimately cause neurological diseases.

If that's the case, all you booger eating losers are in trouble

So, ridding of the snot, rather than just leaving the bacteria, etc causes issues?

It is the bacteria and pathogens picked up by your grubby hands that is the problem.

If picking my nose is wrong I don’t want to be right.

That's why you have to switch fingers

Wow and I thought that picking nose, rolling boogers and tossing them is a stress relief habit.
