They have by far the best leaderboard currently.
The WM this year still had Scottie, burns, Spieth Jt, Finau, can young and thegala. But they won’t all hover on the front page because the Tour has depth which will float in front of some of them
But even in a non designated event the WM top players are just as stacked as LIV this week

Tell me ANY LIV event that has the same atmosphere as the this course in phoenix or Augusta or sawgrass… just to name a few… you can’t.

LOL. Way to prove the point Pride.
Go ahead quote his “world rank”

Sahith would easily be a top 15 player on LIV. Trying to shite on him only makes LIV look really bad

No one watches and no one goes to see the bottom half of the field though

quote:Agreed. There are some definite criticisms of LIV, but their format allows for this to happen often, which is great. Yes, I get why it’s allowed to happen so often but who cares? You can see all those big names go head-to-head, so I don’t particularly care if it’s a limited field or not.

That’s something the PGA tour struggles with - is big head-to-head matchups. The world so badly wanted to see Tiger v. Phil go down to the wire in tournaments but it almost never happened.

So it would have been better if the Tour diluted the hell out of its field and product in order to have tiger vs Phil at the top together more often?

Right because they want the guys with the lowest scores to compete down the stretch, not artificially manufacture matchups

I don’t think the pga tour has any events like Augusta either

What?

quote:Yes, that would’ve been great actually. They could’ve played a dozen events a year with 40-50 guys and gotten big matchups like that.

It’s a shame we got to see it happen like once in our lifetime.

The players are much more comfortable, and they are having fun.
I for one also feel much better that these guys can now be more comfortable and have fun while playing a game for millions of dollars regardless of performsnce!

I mean you are essentially rooting for something like “the match”. That proved to not be very exciting and not many have watched
Posted on 2/10/24 at 2:49 pm to lsupride87
No, I’m advocating for a stacked leaderboard in a tournament. 54 competitors is enough for me. If I see DJ, Rahm, and Koepka at the top of a leaderboard, that’s interesting to me. I don’t first look to see if the field has 54 or 120 players (~60 by the weekend).

What I really like about LIV is the relaxed atmosphere, and the casual dress code.
I bet you’d feel differently about, say, the NBA….

How do the next big golfers become the next big golfers if you dilute the field to only include the best golfers right now? You don’t grow the sport for the next generation only caring about watching the current generation play one another because, eventually, they get old
