You clearly don’t know anything about his coaching prior to LSU. Look up his record at Murray State? He terrorized the OVC for years and won several championships and tournaments and brought that team to the dance multiple years.

What he’s faced arriving at LSU would have hampered any coach coming in.

He’s showing improvement and progress and I felt the home cooking last night vs. Bama kept that from being a much closer game. Sears walked about 10X’s and Nelson fouled every time we drove to the bucket w/no calls on them all.

Weird that you didn't see these posts or a lot of these posters when we were 3-1 in the SEC.

I think most were hopeful that McMahon was going to finally turn the corner. I wasn’t so sure that this team could consistently string together wins though. The 3-1 start now feels like it was ages ago.

I actually answered the question pretty directly in the first comment on the post, but you see how that played out.

I think most of our real basketball fans are quietly & patiently observing progress, cautiously hopeful for 2025. The rest here are just continuing a fit that never ended when Wade was let go.

You got one guy going in EVERY thread saying “we don’t run anything on offense” getting upvoted all day — is our basketball fan base really this dumb?

I’ma have to just refrain from basketball threads til next year, this is currently as toxic a topic as there has ever been on the board.

Last season, on paper McMahon had a Top 20 transfer class coming in, 3 Four stars in Phillips, Reed and Ward plus touted returnees in Miller and Wilkinson and we didn't do shite. This season, we've improved the roster and look like a middle of the pack SEC team. Next season, we have Miller and Givens coming in plus I'm sure we will dip into the portal. However, you do need to retain Williams, Reed and Ward. If we don't make the NCAA's next season McMahon's a lame duck going into year 4.

Cook is a big part of why you’re not seeing as much of that consistently, but we definitely do some of this stuff.

He’s a good player, but holistically it still feels like a patchwork squad. Derek Fountain is your best rebounder.

If you want to criticize McMahon, criticize his recruiting or evaluation. Personally I’m willing to give a pass considering the circumstances if he pulls together a strong class this year.

He was the head coach of the only Murray St. team to have a losing record since 1986... but you know more than we do apparently.

Any?
Wade won the SEC his second year at LSU. The previous year we did squat.
He is winning his new conference, with a team with no basketball success history, his first year.

I certainly hope so if that’s the case. That’s the next step from this years team.

Yes. In his 2nd year they were 16-17 overall, 8-8 in the conference. Not sure this is the flex you think it is.

McMahon’s Murray State Record:
17-14
16-17
26-6
28-5
23-9
13-13 (2020*)
31-3

Awful, just awful.

Are you responding to my post? I never said anything about MM not running an offense. What the hell are you talking about?

The second half of the schedule has many winnable games. I said 6 SEC wins before we started conference play. Think 7 or 8 is possible at this point. Mac needs to win the games he should win....that starts with Ar-Kansas on Saturday.

The odds are better that he gets fired without ever making the tournament than any other scenario based on what we’ve seen on the court and with recruitment.

X and Os, Jimmies and Joes, nothing has clicked so far at LSU.

Now show LSU record, I’ll help you -
SEC(conference we play in)
22- 2-16 0-9 road record .111%
23 3-4 1-4 road record .423%
That’s so far no Kentucky, Tenn., Miss St. Yet

No, not responding to your post. I just replied to the last comment.

The OP is at least partially inspired by the fact that madking has been claiming we don’t run an offense in every basketball thread for a week and a half. That’s what I was referencing — mine wasn’t the first comment to point it out.
