You don’t win as many games as he did at LSU, and you don’t take over a completely dead with zero hope program and win a conference with them in year one if you aren’t coaching Xs and Os at a decent level.

They aren’t ranked. It’s all
Relative. That mcneese team last year lost, 21 games? It’s a hell of a turnaround.

Wade could bring in good, not great players, and they'd play good, not great. Weren't ever going to go deep in the tourney, because when someone figures out the weak spot he can't address it.
If you give McMahon similar talent (which we aren't at yet), I think he can make some in-game moves that would counter some of those teams. Yes, first you have to build the talent up, for that to be relevant.
In his second season at LSU and at the age of 35, Wade’s team went undefeated on the road in SEC play. He did that with multiple freshmen starting and playing key roles.
Do you really think he did that without being a good “X and O’s” coach, capable of making adjustments. Again, people who repeat this BS are grasping at straws to somehow justify that McMahon is better than Wade in some aspect.
Spoiler alert: he’s not. McMahon will never accomplish what Wade did in 5 years even if he stays here 10 years. MM isn’t winning the league and he isn’t getting us to 4 consecutive tournaments.
Why? He can’t recruit and manage a roster at that level and he’s not as good at developing talent. And no, he’s not a far superior X and O’s coach. Wade had both top 20 offensive and defensive efficiency teams at LSU. That means he knows what the hell he’s doing.

I don’t disagree with that, but it was street ball and not actual play calls. Watch Alabama and how they spread and move and get to spots
I’m not hating on Wade at all, I wish he was still here, but I don’t that McMahon is awful. He will be just fine next year

It doesn’t and shouldn’t take 3 years now a days.

Please define “street ball”.
He didn’t call plays!?!?!
You’ve just shown us all how little you understand basketball. Thanks.

It’s about getting matchups and allowing your players to take advantage of mismatches.
It can’t be stressed enough that McNeese State may have the worst history of any division one basketball program, they have nothing to offer recruits to entice them to Lake Charles. And Will Wade has them on top of their conference with some solid non conference wins.
Is he just street balling his way through the Southland Conference? It’s year one, he doesn’t have NBA players.

Will Wade was one hell of a bag man and great motivator
He was awful at actual play calling and coaching.
And I loved the guy and hate that he is gone, but those are just facts
Mcneese St schedule is laughable and they are ranked because of Wade name

What you’re saying is factually incorrect and ironic since McMahon actually doesn’t run anything on offense.

I’d love to be ranked because our coaches repetition… of being a good coach.

Will Wade was one hell of a bag man
He lost several recruiting battles and landed a total of 4 5* recruits here. People acting like he bought a Duke/UK class are either clueless, or just regurgitating talking points.

great motivator
Pretty important…

He had a top 25 offense every year but 1 while here. His worst offensive year he had a top 5 defense.
What do you consider coaching to be? I think building a team, developing them, and then installing your system for them to follow is a little more important than the X and O play you draw up during a time out.

His Xs and Os are better than Will Wades.
McMahon’s game plan tonight says otherwise. Literally tried to run with Alabama instead of slowing the game and using his matchup advantages in the front court. End result, Bama is going to hang 100+ on us and win by 20 points.
Great X’s and O’s …

I could name 5-6 sets off the top of my head that Wade ran every game and I promise you guys like that poster couldn’t name 2 McMahon has ever run. When you see “street ball, Xs and Os or fundamentals” it’s a dead giveaway they don’t know what they’re talking about.

We waste so much time with their nonsense that actually discussing our basketball team is impossible.

Lol what front court advantage? LSU's bigs are pathetic. The only chance tonight was if they got lucky and bama was ice cold from 3. Unfortunately that didn't happen
Posted on 1/27/24 at 9:25 pm to McMahonnequin
Yea we tried the first few possessions through Baker but he turned the ball over and committed and offensive foul. the bigs are bad he missed again there

WTF do you mean… if you give? You don’t give a head coach talent, he recruits it or he doesn’t. 75% of what makes a good college coach good is how well he recruits.
McMahon is going to have to improve his recruiting or LSU will never have a really good basketball team under him no matter how good he can do X’s and O’s.

It pisses me off. It does, y'all know that.
