I’ve always thought Jake was a good actor. This movie is like he’s just going through the motions. It’s a terrible movie. Even if you didn’t try to prop it up against the original

How can a remake of a terribly awesome movie be bad?

It’s a very loose remake. It’s fricking terrible. I laughed a lot, so I would put it more in the comedy category vs action lol

Sucked from beginning to end.

The screenwriting and casting were beyond fricking terrible. It felt like half the actors were pulled from a high school drama class, and the writers came with them.
This is one of the worst films I've seen in a while... And that's saying something.
This just goes to show you how far filmmaking has fallen... And Doug Liman is a good director. It's just untenable when everyone else on the film project is inept morons.

They really gave this turd a mid-credit scene to leave the door open for a sequel?
lol. Pass.
lol. Pass.

Well now I kinda want to see it more.

Watched it last night. The only thing I didn’t like about it was McGregor. Other than that, I thought it was entertaining. Certainly not nearly as bad as this board made it out to be. I mean it’s not Casablanca or Citizen Cane, but damn.

I'm still gonna watch it, but I have lowered my (already low) expectations for it.

I thought it was bad but I knew it going in. I did find it enjoyable and even pulled for Dalton. McGregor was over the top ridiculous and the witty banter was lame. It's 80's action movie bad. That being said, it's not even the worst movie I've seen this week.

So just like Jimmy doing pole vault flips with a pool cue and Brad Wesley making quips throughout the original movie?

Pretty sure that was what they were going for in the spirit of the original.
I thought Jake G nailed it.
I had low expectations, but was pleasantly surprised. Need more bro movies every once in a while.

Haha, i think it was more to show that CMC wasn't actually dead for the fans that watched it solely cause he's in it. at least that's how i viewed it and i have to admit...i prefer that he wasn't dead. his exit of the hospital got a chuckle outta me.
no way there is a sequel to this.

Completely agree. What are people expecting?
They made a remake of possibly the cheesiest bad movie of all time that turned into a cult classic. Gyllenhaal had to be on the most juice of all time.
The black girl owner angle was meh and they didn't go woke with it. It still should have been an old white man that's been on the island forever. The minority presence should have just been the book store girl and her dad, which did work.

I will probably like it then. Most every movie this boards shits on, I enjoy.
