Most of y'all would be happy as clams in Eastern Washington, other than the wind blowing 30 mph all the time and summers being hotter than hell and winters brutal. Its the best of both worlds...stupid high wages and cost of living just slightly higher than most of the developed south. I couldn't stand it but its closer to the south than Seattle by a bunch...

specially in Washington ALL of the blue collar jobs are union jobs....almost no none union jobs in the area. That alone is indicative of what a PNW conservative is about. I was more than happy with the politics in the area but I can assure you most of the posters here would not be, even in the most conservative groups of people.
blue collar people union or non union side/vote mostly republican in today's world
JD Vance and Josh Hawley, and even Rubio and Trump sometimes are pro union/populist in certain situations

Seattle is very depressing from Nov until March. It is very expensive too. Median home price is $875,000, down from $900,000 plus. Wages are high and the minimum wage is $20 p/h, highest in the country. Seattle is a city if transplants, that may explain the social freeze.
Mayor Harrell has done a great job cleaning-up 3rd Ave. For those posters who say the neighborhoods suck, you are wrong about that. The food scene isn’t on par with New Orleans, NY, LA or SF. But what is?

quote:Taco Time is pretty terrible but popular because it was there for years before Taco Bell. I've only had it a couple of times but ordered off the plate menu which comes with refried beans and rice as sides.
There was some local abortion of a Tex-Mex chain called Taco Time that served combo meals with tater tots.

Their idea of a good meal is clam chowder and coffee.

My old hood where did you go?
I ate & drank all over but spent the most time at a sports bar watching NFL games called Buckley's which is at (I think) 2nd Ave & Battery.
FYI for single guys. The level of female attractiveness is low in Seattle, but Buckley's was much better than average for the area.

I could live in Seattle but it's be about like living in Johns Creek or Alpharetta in Atlanta, perfectly fine but boring as hell.

Simply false.
I’ve seen a lot of people make a lot of stupid arguments on here, but trying to argue that Seattle isn’t famous for its dreary weather, is pretty high on the list.
quote:
The city generally experiences cloudy conditions, with clear days occurring infrequently. As a result of the city's latitude, it experiences a moderate difference in daylight hours between summer and winter, though is not subject to the extremes of cities further north.[26] The Seattle area is the cloudiest region of the United States, due in part to frequent storms and lows moving in from the adjacent Pacific Ocean. Seattle is cloudy 201 days out of the year and partly cloudy 93 days.

The entire Pacific Northwest is about as generic as generic gets. Its beautiful but its just very plain.
Clearly, you are an indoor type of person, nothing wrong with that and the PNW probably isn't your jam because of it.

The Asian scene is great. Try some Filipino friend chicken at Chicken Supply if you want something similar to the South but very different. The French, Italian and American options aren't bad they just don't match that scene in a lot of big cities.

Oysters are good but $7-$10 EACH in dive bars....frick that. I can get chattahoochee river oysters (Appalachacola) in dive bars around me for $18 a dozen and theyre just as good.
That minimum wage difference.
I go buy oysters from the farm and it’s 14 bucks for a dozen. Imagine the pricing as it moves up the chain.

Augusta Dawg must find Washington Road far more impressive than I do.

I have some relatives in Redmond and the one complaint I would have is it seems like absolute hell getting from one side of it to the other. But, if you don't have to do that often, it's probably fine.

At least everything else in Louisiana is cheap
Food costs are higher in Louisiana. Insurance costs are much higher.
IMO, the quality of life is lower.
Politics used to wear on me because I had a lot of friends on both sides but I’ve been denounced by the left and I got rid of social media and ignore the bs.

If you can take lots of rain for days on end then Seattle is a great town. Beautiful place. Just wet.

I’m pretty sure AugustaDawg hasn’t been within 2000 miles of Seattle. He’s throwing shite against the walls to see if anything will stick. Besides, we’re talking about the burbs and not downtown.
