So long ago!!
The Killing Moon
“Under a blue moon I saw you”
"The Killing Moon" was released on 20 January 1984 as the lead single from their album, Ocean Rain.
Such a beautifully written song.
Under blue moon, I saw you
So soon you'll take me
Up in your arms, too late to beg you
Or cancel it, though I know it must be
The killing time
Unwillingly mine
Fate
Up against your will
Through the thick and thin
He will wait until
You give yourself to him
In starlit nights, I saw you
So cruelly, you kissed me
Your lips, a magic world
Your sky, all hung with jewels
The killing moon
Will come too soon
Fate
Up against your will
Through the thick and thin
He will wait until
You give yourself to him
Under blue moon, I saw you
So soon you'll take me
Up in your arms, too late to beg you
Or cancel it, though I know it must be
The killing time
Unwillingly mine
Fate
Up against your will
Through the thick and thin
He will wait until
You give yourself to him
Fate
Up against your will
Through the thick and thin
He will wait until
You give yourself to him
You give yourself to him
Fate
Up against your will
Through the thick and thin
He will wait until
You give yourself to him
You give yourself to him
Fate
Up against your will
Through the thick and thin
He will wait until
You give yourself to him
Fate
Up against your will
Through the thick and thin
He will wait until
You give yourself to him

One of the greatest songs of the 80’s.

Fantastic album. Saw them live in November at Darker Waves and they were awful. Ian was especially bad.

Awe! That’s sad and disappointing. I guess not everybody can be like Robert Smith And The Cure
They done got old

Absolutely love the song. It also makes me think of Donnie Darko, one of my favorite movies.

Love the song, but Billions used it in the scene with the trans and kinda ruined it for me. Similar to Goodbye Horses

Great use of the song in The Girl Next Door when the kid first sees Elisha Cuthbert.

I discovered the song on an MTV compilation. At that point, I had only heard Lips Like Sugar. Over time, I realized they had way more great songs than most people realize. The Cutter, Do It Clean, Seven Seas, Rescue etc. Really dislike Bring On The Dancing Horses though

Some of their recent material is just as solid as the mid 80's run. Their album Flower (2001) had a few quality tunes on it. I still listen to it regularly. I find it more listenable than the 90's stuff.
Flowers
Supermellow Man
Buried Alive
Make Me Shine
Parthenon
In the Margins
Scissors in the Sand

I saw the band Cracker last year. They sounded great and had seemed to have great time but the lead singer asked the sound guy “Can we get rid of this Echo and the Bunnymen lighting please?” Now looking at that album cover I think I know what he was talking about.

Nothing will ever come close to the musical creativity of the 1980s
ETA what an amazing time to be in college and getting to see these bands live and hearing these songs in bars.
Also dem 80s club girls
Damn what a time to be young and wild

How was this one of their biggest hits, though, compared to the others? The song is pretty craptastic.
