The dude took a team with 0 scholarships and has made them competitive and relevant in year 2.
Yes, he’s a good coach and those not understanding the conditions in which he took over and don’t give him credit are nauseating.
It’s time for LSU fans to stfu and go to games and root for this team to succeed instead of waiting for them to fail

If he won his last game, then yes. If not he sucks and Will Wade = John Wooden.

Yeah they are… and will be here shortly to down vote this to prove the point.

This is the dumbest metric ever created by the rant.

Moral victories aren’t a stat I would use but I have been impressed so far in SEC play

He's clearly a good coach, and most people understood that before he came here. I'd say all things considered, he's probably an upgrade over Will Wade as a coach.
Jury's still out on how he is running a program, but at least we're seeing some progress.
It's gonna take a couple years to get things running smoothly.

Teams with good coaching get better as the season goes along.... we're getting better. We're not ready to win the SEC yet, but will prolly be in NIT. Win a couple you shouldn't, maybe on NCAA bubble. Tough games on the road coming up. Geaux !

The team is improving and we havebeen playing better in the 2H recently which means he is making good half time adjustments.

He didn't take a team with 0 scholarships and make them competitive in year two. Hell, there are only 5 players on this team that were on last year's tea. 3 players returned from the 2021-2022 team. That was more than the the amount that returned at Kansas St. and Missouri. Teams that where FAR more competitive last year. And this mantra in the age of the transfer era is completely overblown. The transfer portal was fully available to McMahon. Just like it was to all coaches. Which is how the aforementioned K-State and Missouri went from bad to good with overhauled rosters in one season. And Missouri's transfers were mostly mid-major and JUCO players.
The "he started with 0 players" would carry much more weight in the old era of college basketball when a coach only had HS signees and JUCO players available to him. It was nearly impossible to build a great roster in one offseason because the options to do so were very limited. That's what Brady, Jones and Wade faced when they stepped in. The didn't have 1,000+ DI players available to sign. That's why complete rebuilds can happen literally in the span of one offseason. It's ridiculous to judge McMahon by the old standard of roster building.

No LSU FAN wants the team/program to fail. But until literally 2 weeks ago McMahon had done nothing noteworthy in his time here and gave the fanbase no objective reason to believe he would. That has changed a bit now...so your going to see more and more people start to get on board. Which is why LSU is going to have their best home crowd of the season Saturday. LSU fans are no different than any other fans. Give them a product to believe in and they will show up. But you can't get angry at folks for deciding to not waste their time and money attending an unentertaining event...which is what LSU basketball was until two weeks ago.

Serious question. What makes him a better coach? As in what does he do specifically that Wade didn't as a coach?
Many here say he is a "better coach"...and they very well may be right...but no one can actually articulate their basis for that opinion

Just my impression of in-game adjustments and tweaks.
Wade was quite good at getting the team ready for a game, but it seemed like if there was something early we had no answer for, that would remain the entire game.
Wade was more of a card player, would assemble a good hand and ride it.
Looks like McMahon might be a better chess player type guy, adjusting to things that do and don't work.
Both aspects are important, and you need both.

I think the more pertinent question is - is he a good coach for this level.
IMHO, the jury is still out.

Won multiple conference championships.
Coached his team from the bench during NCAA tournament games.
Not get suspended.
Not be central to an FBI or NCAA investigation.
Not get fired.
Currently head coach at a P5 school.

none of that shite was wade's fault. that federal case was a case of massive govt overreach. it was reasonable for wade to believe his phone calls and messages were private. he is an American citizen and deserves privacy.
I like McMahon and wade. I want success for both. but lets not pretend wade was treated fairly. the NCAA has never done anything right and should always be opposed. this year they tried to screw a local kid, they are always trying to screw up people's lives.

We have a JV roster last year plus KJ, this season is really year 1 for him.

correct, its not wade's fault McMahon won at murray. I think you misunderstood who those things were referring to.

I like how you used a non P5 job to discredit Wade and at the same time used a non P5 job to bolster McMahon’s accomplishments.

I think he’s good, he just don’t have a lot of talent. Hopefully he has a good recruiting class coming. Making the NIT this year would be nice
