Hearing some rumblings from my auburn buddy that kiffin is pissed . And has told certain people that he will pursue legal action if nix isn’t the full time play caller at auburn. (This is coming from their bunker on rivals.com )

how can he pursue legal action? Freeze could hire him as the fricking janitor and pay him 1.5million if he wanted to

Kiffin is a child, which means he'll just be pissed about something else next week.

What???? Kiffin is going to pursue legal action if someone employed by another school does not do the job at the other school that Lane wants him to?
That makes no sense at all. But damn I hope Lane does some that stupid.

Apparently Nix had a clause in his contract that he had to pay a big buyout if he left for a non-OC position. Looks like he will be an OC in name only, though, as Freeze has said he will call plays.
Kiffin thinks they are skirting the buyout.

Now I'm not a fancy big city lawyer, but I don't think this case has any merit.
(disclaimer: I am not a lawyer of any kind, big city or not)

That would potentially make sense if an offensive coordinator was mandated to call plays, but I'm certain this isn't the only situation in the country where an offensive coordinator will not be calling plays.

wonder if Freeze could hire him for a day as the OC and then make a new contract to switch to somewhere else

I agree. Just stating what the issue is.

When you're so naive that you fail to even notice that your sources don't know how the world works.

There are plenty of OCs that don’t call the plays. Especially when the HC is an offensive guy.
Does Ole Miss have an OC, doesn’t Lane call the plays?

I don't know about Nix's contract but in the NFL this is (or used to be) a thing. A position coach can only leave his current team when under contract if he is getting a promotion to play-calling coordinator. It can't be just coordinator in name only.

Not sure that is true. At least not a s general rule. Maybe if the language was specifically written into the contract.
But even then it gets murky. What if the OC calls a play but the HC vetos it and wants another one? Then who is the one calling the play?

True. He is a wild eyed shout from the hip personality. Great offensive mind diesn’t mean great program leader.

Kiffin will get an NFL job within the next 5 years. NFL is going for young imaginative coaches these days. He fits that description.

To be fair Charlie Weis Jr as our OC is like those videos where both teams let the slow kid score a goal. Weis Jr doesn't even have a headset on, we gave him a pair of ear muffs and put him in a broom closet
