I’m not against batteries but I’d never own a battery car. But this is totally incorrect in extreme climates people with gas cars have to install block heaters or they will develop engine issues.
I’m not sure about diesel.
When I lived in South Dakota block heaters were just about mandatory

In extreme cold environments most cars come with a cord that comes out of the grill to plug into a trickle charger.

That’s for the block heater. It warms the coolant.

I use mine occasionally, but I’ve never had trouble starting my car in cold weather, either way though. And this includes long periods where it gets down to -40.

Ok then I’m wrong. But in South Dakota more people had block heaters than those that didn’t. I guess they are idiots.

The guy in here trying to spread his wisdom of vehicles legit thought block heaters are trickle chargers.

Man, I thought they were trickle chargers for years. I don't live up in the fricking tundra.

So yeah I was wrong about it. But we're all going to be driving EVs one day so we should probably start figuring out how to operate them in the cold.

Look, see here! Electric Vehicles are the future!

Unless that future requires you to go farther than a couple hundred miles.
Or requires you to go somewhere without charging infrastructure.
Or is cold.
