Trigger Finger Diagnosis

Trigger Thumb more specifically. Have you ever had it? What made it go away for you? I've been in a splint for a couple of weeks, popping Tylenol's, Aleve, and rubbing Arthritic cream on it and it's still not right. Ortho Doc said surgery will fix it.

Too much masturbation?
You've gotta pace yourself.

I'm right handed, the issue is on my left hand.

Nothing so far but I am not willing to get surgery over it.
Goodluck because it sucks.

Had trigger finger on my middle finger for years. Annoying not painful. I got shots twice and that helped for a few months, but will need surgery to fix it for good. I don't want to do surgery though so I'm just living with it.

Add hydrocortisone for the itchiness.

Had it several months back on my left thumb. Wore the splint for a week or two and then only started wearing it at night. After a month or two it got better and now shows no signs. My ortho doc recommended surgery as well and I am glad i passed on it.

I have it due to PsA. A steriod shot right in the tendon works. It hurts like a mofo though

My Wife has had three surgeries due to trigger finger. The first two she was sedated and they went in and corrected the issue. It was a long slow recovery which probably took six months.
On the third surgery she had heard about a different procedure where they go in a scrape the tendon with a needle to release it. This took thirty minutes at the Dr. office and she was able to use the finger same day. No stiches and recovery time was two weeks.
If you want more info let me know and I will ask her more about the procedure. Definitely need to check out before deciding on surgery

Anti-inflammatory (not motrin) and PT helped mine.

Hell yeah I do. My thumb is killing me. When that thumb snaps, oh God the pain!

My wife has had trigger finger in both hands from time to time. One of them was her middle finger which always stuck out from the other fingers looking like she always shooting the bird.
Surgery took care of each them. Surgery is no big deal….local anesthetic and done in the office. Had to wear a bandage a few days, go back to remove 2 or 3 stitches, and that was it. Little to no pain afterwards.

had bad trigger thumb on left hand. Steroid shot fixed it in < 24hours.
Was an amazingly painful shot!
That was a few years ago. Have trigger thumb on right hand now, but haven't gone in to get the shot yet. Need to get the Orthopedist to prescribe an oxycodone and take 2 hours before.
The shot isn't a permanent fix though. eventually you will likely need the surgery.

Then it's obviously not enough masturbation. You gotta switch it up and exercise your left arm/hand.

Left hand on two occasions. Index finger once and then ring finger. Both lasted about 6-8 months. I learned not to bend those fingers. The last one went away not long after forcibly cracking for a few weeks. Not sure if that actually helped or not.

Trigger Thumb

Who pulls the trigger with their thumb?
Posted on 1/16/24 at 1:21 pm to Harlan County USA
Mine is not my thumb but finger. The shots work for about 6 months. Be prepared, they are pretty painful.
