F-150 and F-250 trucks are the target of a crime ring in SWLA

6 stolen so far in Beauregard Parish this week.
They hit up DeQuincy a few weeks ago as well and a few of the stolen trucks were found in staging areas waiting to be moved.
The truck in this video was locked but the thieves had the code to unlock it and push button start it. I know a few of the victims and they all said the same story. I heard about a year ago that thieves have figured out how to hijack the signal from your key fob and use it to break into your car. The victims also said the thieves are scrambling the Ford Pass app locater so they can't locate their trucks.

Guess owning a Faraday bag for key fobs will be needed now.
Just a heads up for F Series owners in SWLA to secure your ride and maybe not leave anything valuable in it.

I bet they won’t try that in a small town. For example, the mean streets of Welsh, Louisiana.

It’s the goddamn Nicholas Cage trying to save his brother again. I’m hiding my GT500.

Ragley is a small town and Ragley had 3 or 4 trucks stolen in one night.
Ragley is also easy access to Texas along Hwy 12. No doubt these trucks are winding up in Houston.

Nic Cage still has nothing on the greatest car theft of all time. North Korea once ordered 1,000 Volvo 144 models from Sweden and never paid for them.
quote:
North Korea is the culprit of the largest car theft in history when it ordered 1,000 Volvo vehicles from Sweden in the 1970’s and never paid.
At the time and as a response to its emerging economy, the hermit nation ordered the Volvo 114s, regarded at the time as one of the safest and strongest cars in the world. Such was their reputation that they were dubbed “tanks.”
The cars were shipped and delivered but North Korea just didn’t bother paying and ignored the invoice. To this day, the bill remains unpaid, prompting Soviet diplomats to call it the “largest car theft in human history”.
North Korea’s debt to Sweden has grown over the years to a massive $322 million. Sweden still sends twice-yearly reminders to Pyongyang, but North Korea has never upheld its end of the agreement.
And to this day, no car manufacturer has dared to provide any new cars to them because of this incident.

According to statistics from HPD, 1,253 Silverado trucks were stolen from January 2022 to June 2022, followed by 540 Sierras and 315 Ford F-150s.
Damn. Seems like a Kia situation where they have a reliable process on how to steal them.

I have been using one for 4 year. A metal tin box works too. That’s where I place my keys when I get home.

Just hide 5 AirTags all over the car. They’ll get the notification if they have an iPhone but they’ll end up getting paranoid and abandoning it. Just get creative where you hide them.
ETA. I wouldn’t own a truck without one buried in the tailgate.

They steal the signal when you hit the remote button. They just have to be in a certain radius. At least that is how they did it about 5 years ago. They probably have even better tech now.

You don't have to hit the button now. Apparently, your key fob constantly emits a signal to your vehicle and they can intercept that.
