The real problem is that you’re getting a fricking deer mounted. Kill something from another continent and you get a pass.

Glad you get it back. Next time you may want to think about a European Mount. You'll get it back in a couple of weeks and will cost $100-$150.

The bigger question here is being ignored. Why did the OP ask who was being the a-hole? If his story is accurate, and I have no reason to believe it isn't, why ask? Does the OP really not know who the a-hole really is in this situation? How is that possible. [tongue in cheek]
