I recall the past couple seasons playing 3 game series at home the first couple weeks. Seems like Johnson is trying to get the team prepared for the long post season early on but against low level competition.

I’m excited to see so many games early on but damn looks like an mlb schedule.

look at what lsu had to do in Omaha
It’s a good way to practice that same scenario and you get a lot of pitchers mound time

Recall CJJ discussing that front-loaded schedule and how it would afford the opp to play a lot of younger guys and try diff lineups but I don't recall add'l details nor where that vid was (sorry)

Good way to start season getting plenty reps, looking at players, pitchers and many games prior to SEC schedule.

Listened to Chris Blair interview Jay on the Hey Fighting Podcast network and they discussed it. Basically gives them the opportunity to see guys play in a regional type situation playing different teams, prepares the coaching staff for postseason play having to prepare for multiple teams, and he also mentioned how the beginning of the season always has the excitement from fans and players early to get started so he thought it would be good to front load the schedule a little more and get them playing a lot early.

Jay has made it very clear multiple times he does that on purpose because it simulates the grind of post season and the next level.

Separates the dudes from the boys.
