Question for the SW Mississippi hunters

I have a 3-day weekend coming up with a new moon. Would my time be better spent in a deer stand or staying home to clean out the gutters I've been meaning to get to for the last two years?
Since I'm asking for advice let me add that (1) I really, really hate to clean gutters and (2) this has been the most frustrating season in years - very little movement and the only bucks I've seen (night time pics don't count) is a spike and a yearling fork-horn.

I'm always choosing a weekend in the woods over cleaning out gutters.
And the moon is irrelevant.

If you’ve hunted hard or often and those are the only bucks you’ve seen you need to find a new place to hunt

This time of year, be in the woods as much as possible as long as possible. Moon don’t mean shite

your deer season might be salvaged in a matter of seconds. If you mess with gutters at home you’ll never know.

For most deer hunters in the Deep South, deer hunting is a grind. I killed a mature buck on the last afternoon of rifle two years ago. I killed a mature buck on the last afternoon of late primitive last year.

Most of the time after I kill a buck I say to myself “he just showed up!”
Gutters can wait

You can clean the gutters after deer season is over

You should check the solunar tables and see if it’s a good day or not

I'd rather hunt all weekend and not see anything than clean gutters. Moon is irrelevant, if you've really hunted hard and have only seen 2 or 3 deer all season you need to find another place to hunt or figure out if you're going in on wrong winds.

I'm glad at least one person caught the tongue-in-cheek nature of my post - I don't actually have gutters in need of cleaning but the lack of activity has made hunting a bit of a drag.
And I apparently am in the minority regarding the moon. My cameras are picking up loads of deer - including multiple pictures of 2 really nice shooter bucks - but only at night. Same thing with other hunters in my area. And when deer are nocturnal I have seen an uptick in daylight sightings with a new moon.

Is it all about killing deer or the hunt? Ask yourself that question then decide. Not hard for me.

I'm actually almost ambivalent about shooting deer - I already have a big doe butchered and in the freezer. It's more about seeing deer on land I've spent years trying to improve. But "the hunt" sort of becomes a drag when nothing is moving!

That almost certainly is the "correct" answer and how I hunt during the rut. But the deer don't seem to have lovin' on their mind this year!

I get it. This year has sucked. Glad I had my third child in late November and missed most of it.
That’s a bold statement lol

From my experience, the answer is throw on a headlamp and knock this crap out after work one evening, then go hunt all weekend. Win win....
FYI, get on the roof and use a leaf blower. Way faster.
