I heard a Pewee yesterday but couldn't get eyes on it. With the trees filling in, it's been a little tougher to catch on the camera.

Is that a leucistic or albino ruby throat?
If so, that's pretty cool!

I have a bunch of birds of south louisiana at my feeder and now a red-tailed hawk that took one of my little birds as a meal on Sunday.

Hawks will find anywhere birds congregate. I stopped feeding in the Spring and Summer several years back because the hawks started putting so much pressure on them. I still keep the birdbath full, they don't congregate there as much (more just a steady coming and going), and it is an easier escape for them.

They're the best guardians. They or the Jays always notice them and sound first. The crows and Purple Martins then mob them and run them out of sight. Hawks can't deal with the martins in flight. Martins fly too high and are way too agile. If one lands in a tree the crows will pester the shite out of it until it leaves.
So far this year I haven't had to put up decoys to distract the crows from the purple martins. Hope it stays that way because hawks have been a problem for the past three years.

We have had this bird garden since 2014 and this is the first time we picked up a Hawk or have seen an attack.

Cool. We have had 5 bluebird eggs hatch into 4 babies and they flew the coup a few weeks back. We have 5 more buns in the oven for our parent bluebirds. Hopefully we can get one more good brood out of those guys.
