So the wife and I are planning a weekend trip to Houston to just kind of explore the city and find some fun things to do.

One important question I have is what areas of Houston should I AVOID, for safety reasons and others? Are there certain parts I should steer far from?

Anything that is worth doing is in a decent part of town.

Anything around Hobby.

Just stick to the Galleria, Museum District, Height and you’ll be fine.

Wife and I just went last May for the first time in 20 years. We stayed at the Hyatt in downtown on Louisiana St and drove down to NRG Statium, up to the Woodlands, and around downtown to eat and such and didn't have any issues whatsoever. I can see how downtown can be sketchy, though, but we had a good experience. I guess just don't be dumb and watch your surroundings. Listen to your gut.

Avoid anywhere within 5 miles of a Whataburger.

If you’re scared of downtown Houston, then you probably just shouldn’t leave your small town.

I watched a bum drop his pants and spray diarrhea all over the sidewalk at 5p on a Friday near the convention center. You should go there if you’re into that kind of thing.

Anywhere you would stay, as long as it's not a Motel 6, you should be fine.

Try to pick out the things you want to do, and stay near the majority of them, other wise you will spend your entire weekend driving around.
