Hot sausage pizza back in early 90s with a cold brew while playing video poker in the bar…. Good times!

What’s the deal with restaurant owners that are jerks to customers? Then shocked when the lose business?

Nothing. It’s the same below average food. It’s just not as fond in your memories.

Remember the old "I would like a poboy with extra gravy. Answer: "No" " thread? Here it is in all it's glory.

Almost 9 1/2 years ago. Wonder how many posters from that thread are no longer with us.

FWIW, I'm right down the wheelhouse of Pastime's target demo: old enough to remember when the bridge over their heads wasn't there. Sheesh.

Still here, in fact I had a client take us to Pasttime several months ago. That's where he wanted to go and lunch was on him, so no complaints.

The irony!

Bridge was built in '68. Did you get roast beef, sloppy?

That joint was always crap. I remember back in the summer of 87 I had a temp job at the DNR, and twice I went to Pastimes.

Got a pizza the first time, and it was disgusting. Massive amount of cheese, few toppings. I had better pizza in the high school cafeteria.

Second time, I got a roast beef poboy. It was as meh as meh can be.

Much like the Fleur de Lis, it's one of those places people from Baton Rouge rave about that is just utter shite.

Years ago I had a friend suggest that I go and try the boudin pizza. I went to "Pastime Jr" on Drusilla since it was closer. It was some the worst, blandest pizza I ever had. When I told him about it, he told me the mistake I made was that I didn't go to the original location. So, I went to that one and tried it. Equally horrible.

In October my wife and her friend took our son (and hers) to the 13th Gate and were looking for a place to eat. Her friend wanted to do Pastime and my wife called me and asked if I had ever been there and if so, what I recommended. I told her I had been there, and I wasn't sure what to get, but I told her whatever you do, DO NOT get the pizza.

So of course she got the pizza. She came home and told me it was the worst pizza she ever had.

I went once. It was worse than Fleur de Lis pizza.

If I am going to sit in an old dusty building at least Pinettas is edible.

Must have missed this for some reason.

What year was that and how long did they last?

Most people under 35 don’t appreciate places like the Pastime. They think it’s overpriced but will pay through the adds to door dash or get a Starbucks special blah blend . Been going to Past time for 40 yrs and except for the excessive prices that all food places have had since COVID and Biden it’s a great place. Was there in summer and family loved it. I was there when Mr Joe tended bar and Pat Shingletin ate lunch at the bar often and then went to do the weather.

That looks like a cheap frozen pizza thrown in a real pizza pan.

in the FAQ’s they mentioned trying to open additional full service locations around BR and even into Hammond. Then wanted multiple more pizza only spots in BR area. Delusional

As a kid I remember the pizza being fantastic and smelled so good in the car when we got take out. But as an adult I always wondered if the pizza had changed or my palate as a kid was crap. Same thing with Fleur de Lis.

Look, I'm all about nostalgia, and some restaurants do survive on it with a loyal fan base, but Pinettas is where I draw the line. It has been the home of countless generations of roaches with the same DNA going back for many decades. Every time I've been there, I have seen them on the walls.
