Before the overall decline? Obviously Covid hurt bad. Game 7 with GSW and Cleveland? Or before that?

The sport of basketball just kind of sucks in general. Touch fouls leading to 40 free throws a game.

It’s not a good product and it’s very hard to watch.

Before Steph Curry.

I like him and he’s a talented player (arguably top 5 of all time), but he’s ruined the sport of basketball at damn near every level, because now everyone over empathizes running around chucking bullshite 3’s instead of actually playing a real game of basketball.

This is the ideal NBA. You may not like it, but this is what peak performance looks like.

2004 NBA Eastern Conference Finals

Game 1: Pacers 78, Pistons 74
Game 2: Pistons 72, Pacers 67
Game 3: Pistons 85, Pacers 78
Game 4: Pacers 83, Pistons 68
Game 5: Pistons 83, Pacers 65
Game 6: Pistons 69, Pacers 65

The NBA has become a soap opera. Free agency and the storylines are better than the actual games. It’s almost like you have to “get through” the games/season to get to the interesting parts.

Probably pre-super team era

I think that stuff really took the piss out of it. The BLM stuff was dirt of the coffin.

I was commenting with an irl friend about this the other day. I remember people talking about the NBA (not online). Now it's like it doesn't even exist.

Late '80's to early '90's when the Lakers, Celtics, Pistons, and Bulls were duking it out was incredible. You young bucks will never understand.

2016 was probably the last season I was really into the NBA. Idk if the product is great or not anymore since I'm not watching.

It all ended after the NBA on NBC lost the rights.
