I'm interested in what the guy with half of a head whispered to the trooper in the flashback-
Pretty sure that was a woman. Another reason that made me think they are intentionally trying to not have strong men portrayed. They flashback to 2 soldiers in battle and they are both women.

I'm guessing that you're thinking that Jennifer Jason Leigh in Fargo is Bridget Fonda after plastic surgery?

Yes that's who I meant. Sorry.

You think Nicole Kidman has aged bad? I mean she is no Elizabeth Hurley or Jennifer Lopez when it comes to aging but she is still pretty for being 56.

She looks great until she starts to talk. Then she looks like Nicole kidman wearing a really good Nicole Kidman silicone mask. I don't see how she still gets work.

I think people are getting used to all these effed up faces and are starting to see them as "normal."

If you saw her in Big Little Lies...well...she looks pretty amazing. That was a couple of years ago.

She's fine until she talks/tries to emote. I saw the same show. I thought it was very distracting. Literally like she was wearing a nice silicone mask.

I thought the same thing on the series she did with Hugh Grant.

Funny how two people can watch the same thing and see different things.

--The show runner's tweet asking for audience score and already blaming "bros" is a laughable & terrible look, and gives credence to everyone questioning her agenda with several different points brought up here already

When preparing season 4, subtitled Night Country, director and writer Issa López chose to create a "dark mirror" of the first season: "Where True Detective is male and it's sweaty, Night Country is cold and it's dark and it's female"

When I see things like this, for me, it automatically makes me think you are not proud of your work. You are already trying to blame someone for why your show/movie wasn't popular. Just make a good show and don't worry about the "bros".

Overall it seems like they are going to play heavily into the supernatural and in the end it will be someone at the mine behind it all. There are a lot of ways to go, and it will be interesting to see how they cram it all in with just 6 episodes.

if any of the primary staff / director / producer / actors are of any of the oppressed classes, it's a built-in excuse for any criticism. it's too tempting, and they just cant resist. they do it automatically at this point, almost preemptively.

It’s like a high school kid stepped out of their first drama class and just wrote something down on a piece of paper and they went with it. Who wrote this nonsense? The dialogue and acting is awful. The CGI. Even what they found at the end of the episode looked like straight to DVD props. All of it. Even Jodie Foster’s acting is terrible.

If they were going to take someone else's work and re-brand it with the True Detective nameplate to tell a story of gritty female empowerment then they should have just used Mare of Eastown to do that.

That HBO series was actually well-written, well-directed and superbly acted by Kate W. and the rest. And it would have gotten a lot more attention and likely a better production budget if it had the True Detective fan following attached to it.

Maybe they figured that out and this was their attempt to hit a mulligan.

I’m not sure how anyone can form an opinion based off 1 episode.

Pretty easy actually. You watch it, and then think about if you liked it or not.

Just checked…Rust Cohles father who lived for a time in Alaska, was named Travis. The name of the dead guy who “led” Rose to the bodies- yeah you already know- Travis.

If the opinion is about that one episode I disagree. If that opinion is about the unseen season I agree.

Just finished the first episode with the wife. We both give it about a 6.5/10 and will continue to watch. Some thoughts:

- Jodie Foster is really good in it
- The CGI is bad
- apparently, there have been mysterious mass deaths of caribou in real life, although it seems like these were from starvation, not suicide
- is the supernatural element really going to factor in to the mystery? Not sure how I feel about that
- we decided the show gives off X Files mashed with Fargo (movie) vibes
- we also decided the show is filled with ugly, miserable people
- the soundtrack is interesting and overall good. I can’t believe we got Sweat by Inner Circle!

Some people are simply different than others, and that’s ok baw.

In this example, it’s a cultural thing.

Right! Meaning if it were actually good with good story writing we’d be talking about how good and exciting the show is. I’ll probably check out on or 2 more episodes and if it doesn’t get any better I’m out.
