Any chance it was the players who called the last three defensive plays?

This is certainly romanticizing the moment, but what if the players just said, "We are not going to sit back and let this guy have all day to throw."

It has been clear all year long that if the defense played more aggressively we prolly win at least one more game (Ole Miss).

If not the players, then who?

The players Bud Kilmer’ed him? I like the idea. Not sure if true, but I thought about it too.

Like when Josh Booty called a play that they used to run at Evangel. Can’t remember whether it worked or not but the coaches were like WTF. Does Josh have any sons like Jaime Howard does?

What’s really sad is all of us arm chair QBs could see refusing to blitz all season was crazy… especially since the guy got paid millions to play a soft zone and send four down lineman every snap.

Insane it was allowed to go on all season.

“We were told to pass block again but let’s go ahead and rush the passer”

Stop. You people are grasping at straws now and cluttering up the board.

From post game presser-

quote:

Q. The defensive pressure you dialed up in the very end, talk about that a little bit.

BRIAN KELLY: So we got out of our dime and nickel package. We got back into some base. The guys were wanting to get into some base. We got into some base defense. Got into some trail coverage. Made it difficult for them to have anything available.

It was certainly player led. House wasnt making those calls in the 2H.

Odds are better that CBK went to the stands, and grabbed the first guy wearing a jersey with another man's name on it. Asked him.... "you know the difference between a nickel and a corner???" Guy says yeah, "nickel is 5cents and a corner is like a 45* angle." CBK responds by handing him a headset "yep you'll do just fine, the defense is yours."

I think CBK called the last few defensive plays. He said! “Balls to the walls men!”.
