Tiers of DC coaching hires IMHO

Tier 1 (the big whales, bust out the dancing bananas)
Minter, Baker, Leonhard, Schumann
Tier 2 (super solid hires, reason for optimism)
Gibson, Guidry, Durkin
Tier 3 (wait and see. Can’t be worse than House)
Lake, Parker (only because I don’t see it happening)

position coaches better be good recruiters, because leonhard ain't gonna cut mustard in that department. i prefer baker.

I'm not entirely sold on Leonhard or Baker being tier 1 if I'm being honest. I'd rather Baker of the two as well just because he has Louisiana recruiting ties and is a good recruiter.

If Pruitt could navigate the penalties against him, he'd be tier 1 IMO. Great recruiter and the best DC of the Saban era at Bama. They loved him in Tuscaloosa and he was elite at other stops as DC.

You're right. After the mess he made at Tennessee and the Show Cause, we won't see Coach Conehead in college football for a long time.

IMHO, there's no way that Guidry belongs in this tier. He's a journeyman HS and directional college coach, with only one season of coaching in the Power 5 conference level. I'll take a big pass on this guy.

I don't know why he's on an LSU list because he supposedly doesn't want to move his younger family from WI. He's been doing some analyst work for 2Bs, and possibly others (NFL), that he really doesn't have to travel for.
Also had surgery for something over the offseason that had him basically out of commission for a while.
He might be a player for the Packers job if/when Barry gets canned.
