I don't know if anyone else caught it, but at one point in the 4th after the refs made a few iffy calls, Joel pointed out the obvious about the whistle being used to keep teams in the game.

I was actually kind of shocked that AD didn't do his normal "don't get me in trouble tonight" routine.

The one call they gave Reaves where he lost the ball mid move was laughable

Yeah that was shite. They need to redo the rules. I’d say give the coaches at least two challenges each. Reviews should be limited to 30 seconds. Keep the game moving but get shite right.

We should all be tired of it. I mean you effing revees getting face of the league calls while jv and zion get completely beat up in the paint with no calls I mean how many times have we seen jv get smacked in the face and some how he gets called for the foul? Then you have b.i getting held and bumped before he even has the ball and it never gets called smh

This is so frustrating. Everything that you’ve mentioned is spot on.

He noted the Lakers had 0 fouls late into the fourth quarter.

I feel like JV has been trying to help his case by letting out more Eastern European big man grunts while battling in the paint.

I feel he is either doing it more or somehow they are picking it up more on the broadcast.

JV doesn't get as many calls as he should, because he makes those flopping gestures a lot. The refs ignore him many times than not when he flops. He is so large that he should take the Shaq approach and just pound through them like he did against Sabonis in the IST.

He needs to make the defense feel him even more to know that if they are going to hack him, they are going to feel it too.

The Lakers lead the league in free throws by a lot. And they are like 25th in paint points. Make it make sense.

Jose is our master at selling calls. He's elite.

I agree. A big part of why Jose gets those calls is because he is a small guard. Whereas, bigs don't get those calls when they flop. JV needs to bull through those hacking fouls in order to get the refs to make the call.

As the ties with Vegas increase, officiating seems to get "worse" in all the leagues.

In fairness Zion bulls through the hacks and doesn’t sell and he rarely gets calls.

Joel seems to think the number of team fouls each quarter, and when you get into the penalty, is more important than the score.

Indeed. I am pretty confident that MLB will go to an automated strike zone at some point as they are testing it in the minors. Previously, they tested the pitch clock and I believe the larger bases in the minors. If/when that switch happens, that will easily be the best officiated game of the major sports.
