Need a new set of hunting boots. I’ve had tall zip ups for a while. Want something 8 or 9”, waterproof, comfortable and gives slight warmth for temps from mid 30’s-60 degrees.

Is 400g insulated boots too insulated for slightly warmer days?

I stick to just regular LaCrosse and insulated socks when needed.

I have 400g and they have been fine on warmer days, but some people get hotter feet than others. I have F&S lace-ups, I thought they would be a cheap starter boot but it's been 5+ years now and they are still really comfortable for long hikes or sitting, and warm enough for me. I don't think the F&S brand isn't around anymore, might have been a Dick's thing at the time but they have since gone soy and are useless for hunting.

400 is great all around. Lacrosse for the South. Crispi for the West.

I’m still wearing my 10 year old mucks field blazers. They are comfortable, warm and have held up well .

400g LaCrosse or Mucks

I am thankful that they make boots for long feet

I have insulated Lacrosse Burley’s. They keep your feet warm and don’t leak. I have tried about 3 different pairs of rubber/neoprene hybrid boots and they all leaked after a year or two, including Lacrosse Alpha Lite’s. I would love to find a n equivalent to the Cabela’s Duratrax insulated knee boots. Best boots I have ever owned. They had an athletic shoe bottom and were very comfortable for walking. Cabelas/BassPro doesn’t make them anymore. I walked hundreds of miles in those boots.

I’ve had two pairs of Muck Wetlands. Comfortable and have stretch. They have come apart, bottom soles both pairs, Muck replaced them.

Good lord yes.

Get good merino socks and uninsulated boots. I hunt in sub zero temps and knee deep snow every year in uninsulated boots.

Good socks, boots that fit Good, and good core temp management is the way to warm feet bliss.

2500 gram boots wouldn't help it. If your feet are cold, you have circulation or core temp problems. Most likely both.

Hunted this season in MN in Danner Vital 400g. Temps ranged 20s-60s. Hiking the SE MN bluffs in them was significantly better than my mucks (which have a place, just not in the hills). Added Arctic shield boot covers with a hand warmer for colder days. A great hiking boot for long walks and warm toes for cold sits. Favorite boots I’ve ever owned.

Am originally from LA and they’d prolly be too warm for early season, but they do make an un insulated version.

What made you choose these over the Danner Pronghorn? Price?
