If he goes too the Underwood recruitment is most likely dead in the water…

I'd be surprised if we didn't. I'd also be surprised if this is coming out of left field to Kelly, though it might be to us.

I said a month ago when people were talking about Denbrock possibly getting a HC gig that as long as we keep Sloan, we'll be fine. Denbrock is good, but he doesn't run some amazing or new era scheme. Sloan can run this offense. We need Sloan at least for the next 2 years, but hopefully he sticks it out for Nuss and the next QB.

It would be good for Nuss to have the continuity. Retaining Sloan is also important though if we can't keep Denbrock.

Joe Sloan enters his second season as Louisiana Tech's offensive coordinator and ninth overall season with the Bulldogs. He also oversees the LA Tech quarterbacks.
Sloan began his Tech coaching career in 2013 as the inside receivers coach and was elevated to recruiting coordinator in 2014. In 2015 he was named the assistant head coach and prior to the 2019 season, was promoted to co-offensive coordinator. During the 2020 campaign, Sloan oversaw a Louisiana Tech offense that ranked first in C-USA and second in the FBS in fourth down conversions at 88.9 percent (16-of-18). He guided the offense to rank fourth in C-USA and 53rd in the FBS in red zone offense at 84.6 percent (33-of-39). The Louisiana Tech offense also ranked fourth in C-USA in passing with an average of 216.6 passing yards per game.

Honestly I’d say we ride with Sloan unless there is an absolute home run.
Like I would take Sloan a million times over Rees.
Also split on Denbrock leaving, the only real melt would be him gone and house staying.

And what is your point? Joe had the OC title but Skip called the offense. I like Sloan. Great guy but he wasn’t the play caller

If Denbrock leaves, he leaves. I know ND has the money but have not known them to outbid for the fun of it like some others do. But this could be a save Freeman move on their part?

Hopefully, he doesn't leave because the last thing we need is to be starting over on offense with our defense already in shambles. Time to open up the check book again!
