Upcoming ammo shortage and price increase?

I just got this message from a friend of mine who is a FFL dealer. Has anyone else heard anything about this? TIA
We just got the following message from our ammo wholesaler:
Good morning, I just wanted to take some time to let you know what we are now hearing in regards to the direction ammo is heading in the rather near future. If you have not heard by now there is a shortage of nitrocellulose which is used to make gunpowder. Several manufacturers such as Vista, Ammo Inc and Winchester have already confirmed this news and have made it known they are going to be increasing prices in January because of this. We have also begun to receive news about all of this directly and are certain that a market shift is coming in the near future. Now like with many other things we are going to do our best to buy now and stay ahead of this while we can. Naturally though time will catch up to us and the ammo market everywhere will trend upwards again. More specifically we are gonna see a more direct impact on larger calibers that require more gunpowder as manufacturers are going to likely keep focused on common calibers that require less powder.
Long story short we are unsure as to exactly when we may all begin to feel the effects of this shortage however it is pretty apparent that an increase in ammo pricing is coming in some capacity early Q1 of next year. With that all being said please feel free to do your own research on this. This is fairly public and getting more info should not be an issue. Use this information and what you find elsewhere how you see fit. I have included below a short list of some common calibers that are available down below. Please note that pricing seen below could begin to become more volatile and change at any point given the current state of the industry and where it is heading. I will do my best to keep you updated as we hear more and on ammo availability. If you have any questions or need anything please do not hesitate to reach out. Thanks and have a great day!

sounds like a marketing ploy to increase sales.
regardless, I reload and have enough powder/primers for a while.

I'm seeing more Ammo available now than a few years ago. Not sure if that will change.

"OH nooooo!!! Panic!!!! Buy more!!!!!!!"
He has a shitload of expensive inventory he can't move. Book it.
Ammo crisis "in the near future" is like saying the sun is going to go down eventually. No shite. It's been that way since 2012.

Sounds like a salesman being a salesman. The “shortage” never truly ended for larger or less common calibers, because the cat got out of the bag - they can make more money loading a bunch of 6.5CM and 308, then occasionally tool up for one big batch a year of the stuff like 270, 30-06, etc. They’re worse than crawfish farmers these days with the bullshite for why they can’t make things, truth is they figured out it’s more profitable to give you less options. Happening across a lot of industries, and is usually referred to in the corporate world as going lean.

This is real and NOT a marketing ploy. We drew down our arms manufacturing capacity and in turn the logistics capacity on way out of Afghanistan and now everyone and their momma is looking for components due to their sell out to supply Ukraine.

He also has to pay taxes on that inventory that he’s holding at the end of the year.

Ammo Shortage?
The citizens of the USA have like Trillions of ammo.

Yep. If you don't use something tactical, better spread them cheeks. If your favorite load hasn't been discontinued (like 3 of mine have), be ready to pay as much as you paid for the rifle for 200 rounds.

I work in a field involved in the military munitions sector; shortages are real and ammunition plants are either going 24/7 and/or being restarted.
The decline in just U.S. munitions inventories due to these never-ending excursions overseas has put the U.S. inventory in a bad way.
It trickles down to the civilian market as components for 155/105 mm artillery rounds puts a pinch on small-arms components and then in turn that available to civilian market.

Crawfish prices about to jump.

Sorry man, this is a tough sell to customers who have been scrounging for a single box of anything for years and who are also now seeing full shelves in stores.

They are outrageous already.
Stores are seeing their shelves load up with this expensive shite and are desperate to move it.

If you're still buying ammo off the shelf, god bless you.
And if you have wised up and started being self sufficient yet haven't backlogged powder and primers, well then you're not really self sufficient then are you?

Saw this on a few other forums.
With the wars in Ukraine and Israel gobbling up gunpowder and other elements of ammunition, the prices of ammo for hunters and plinkers in America are about to shoot up.
One of the nation’s largest ammo suppliers has just warned cartridge makers that gunpowder is getting so scarce that they will be jumping prices up to 10%.
Vista Outdoor, which owns several shooting sports brands including Remington, Federal, Hevi-Shot, and Alliant powder, wrote, “Due to world events our suppliers have notified us of unprecedented demand for and an anticipated global shortage of gunpowder, and thus has increased our prices substantially.”
Sales Vice President Brett Nelson added, "We must therefore raise our pricing to help offset those increases."
The letter was posted on X by cartridge maker Fenix Ammunition. It wrote, only half in jest, “The signs of imminent societal collapse are all around you.”
Secrets sent the post to Vista for confirmation earlier this week, and a company spokesman said the letter is authentic.

You’re correct on what you’re seeing…the problem with the future re: civilian ammo sales is that it’s like a stalled vehicle on the interstate; the whole interstate is backed up due to one vehicle slowing everything down due to the onlookers causing the traffic jams…our problem is not the current inventory, it’s the multiple vehicle pile up coming due to unending wars feeding the MIC and eating up stockpiles while the lack of components caused by logistics issues still ongoing from 2020.
Not crying sky is falling but it’s about to be a heavy downpour.
