Man Griff is going to try to trade JV- which is a huge mistake.

Would be a huge mistake. JV is straight up better than Allen

Like Myles Turner, Pelicans will always be mentioned as a suitor in Allen's trade talks.

Agreed. I just don’t think Allen would make this team better. If anything he’ll clog the paint more for BI and Zion.

What’s the point of getting worked up over trade rumors? 80% of the time they’re are probably fabricated by the agent.

The problem is the starting lineup just doesn't work. Either CJ will have to go to a 6th man role (which is not going to happen with a guy that is almost making 40 mil), or you have to get rid of Jonas for someone that can protect the paint.

Sure, Allen will clog up the paint, but that is already an issue with Jonas to a large extent. As much as we want to believe Jonas has floor spacing ability, he averages 1.8 3pt attempts per game as a Pelican. For his career, he is 0.7 attempts per game.

Sure, there will be a Jonas game every 5-6 games or so, but the need for his offensive ability is a bit overrated. Jonas is the 4th option behind BI, Zion, and CJ. And when one of those three are off the floor, the role of setting up the offense runs partly through Jose or Dyson. Jonas isn't asked to initiate in the offense outside of a screen of dribble hand-off.

Jonas and Zion offer no resistance at the rim and it showed in the worst way last night. At the end of the day, this team isn't going to go anywhere if there is no sense of interior defense. Allen at least brings that to the table.

Griff should have made the trade for Miles Turner years ago, but there's no need to beat that dead horse. This team can put up points. We've lost so many big leads because we can't get stops. Allen, Herb, & sometimes Trey closing lineup will make life really difficult on opposing offenses and will help with the rebounding issue.

Even if you go out and grab a guy like Allen, you'd need a point guard to pair him with in order for him to be viable on offense.

Interesting

I think Vals offense might be the most underrated and underused single skill for this team.

Like Shamirt said. The only way it works with Allen is if you make Trey a starter

I think Jonas is a very good offensive center. By overrated, I am referring to his pecking order within the offense. Running more sets for Jonas is more than likely taking the ball out of Zion and BI hands (I am speaking of when he shares the court with either of those two).

Even though he is a good offensive option, he's not a better option than Zion, BI, or even CJ to an extent.

JV is 4th in attempts and rightfully so. He's the 4th option with 10.1 attempts a game and he doesn't really take opportunities from BI/Z/CJ.

His ability to generate offense from nothing has been very important to this team. A guy like Allen isn't going to be anything outside of put backs without a good passer who can get him the ball in favorable spots.

Yup. If anything Val’s excellent play have helped win us more games despite Willie’s coaching, Zion conditioning or BI iso ball.

This team should not need JV’s offense. He should be behind Zion, BI, CJ, and Trey in the pecking order at a minimum. Ultimately this team will need some rim protection.

JV is one of the best blocking centers in the league this year and we’re a top defense. The rim protection thing is overblown.

Go look at DFG% at the rim stats

Jonas is a terrible rim defender.

Jonas defended FG% at the rim is 69%. That is absolutely horrible. The top guys in the league are around that 55% mark with the elite guys around 50%. His inability to protect the rim is far from overblown.

JV averages 1.3 blocks per game and Allen 1.0 block. JV is not the problem here and overall our defense is one of the league’s best. Basically, you trade JV for a guy like Allen or Turner you’re not making this team better.

In regards to defending fg% Zion is ahead Capella and Anthony Davis so take that for what you will. The top huy Poetl has a plus/minus of -33 and the second guy Gafford is -116. So yeah that stat is meaningless.

Blocks aren’t the only thing that prevents scoring at the rim.
