Louisiana area 5 and 9 limited doe days

What is the reason behind the limited doe days in these two areas only? Area 5 only has 9 days total of either sex firearm, while the rest of the state has a couple months.
If I recall correctly, this was all implemented the year after the Morganza spillway was opened in 2011 with the reason being the fawn kill due to the flood. Now 12 years later we still keep the same season.
Does anyone else hunt these areas? What is the reason for this and is it going to be permanant? The deer numbers seem to be plentiful in area 5.

I hunt area 9 and I think it’s chicken shite. Then again, I’m no biologist.
It’s nothing to see 10 does on a hunt during bucks only and more than likely a fat arse goose egg on doe days.

who knows, the WLF has no plan, if you look at area 5, they have state land right next to attakaps wma, the state land has a dog season and early primitive either sex and 9 gun days of either sex gun, the WMA which is seperated by a 100 foot bayou in some places has 3 either sex days and very limited gun season, makes no sense, they have plenty deer out there, to open up more either sex days. And also ive seen plenty of times when dogs are let out on state land and they run onto the wma, no enforcement

They want you in DMAP. It's bullshite. Area 9's last rifle doe day was Sunday. frickin sucks. It basically forces small buck shooting late in the season for people who want one deer in the freezer, and don't really want/need 2. They don't shoot a doe early because they might kill a good buck, and don't shoot a doe later because they can't. It's a total shite arrangement.

I know I can get on Dmap but I have family property and it would be hard to work all that out with the jackasses in my family. There really should not be specific days to take a doe in area 9. I understand public land but on private land I should be able to shoot one on what days I want and tag them like we had for a few years. Ours are so early that I still see fawns with spots in December. I cant bring myself to shoot a doe on these early doe days where fawns are still nursing.

Sent an email to Rep Jerome Zeringue last week about this very issue. Even brought up the possibility of splitting area 9 into 2 separate areas with the Mississippi River being the dividing line since opening of the spillway does not flood the West Bank of the area. Not sure they will consider it but worth a try. If they won’t allow us to be like the other areas, how about making the either sex tag legal throughout the legal hunting season to at least give the hunter who can’t hunt on doe days a chance to at least harvest one doe. Write, call or email your state representative or senator. Squeaky wheel gets the grease.
