6000 miles @ 70 mph avg = 85 hrs
54 charging stops @ an avg of 39 minutes = 35 hrs
85 hrs driving, 35 hrs waiting, 54 stops!

Don't drive a non-Tesla EV across the country.

Is there such thing as a wrecker type service, except you charge a stranded EV to like 10% to get them to the next charging station? Seems like there might be money in that

Those people would never drive across country. Flying is faster but I enjoy driving everywhere for convenience, minus the kids when they act a fool. EV is not for me.

They need swappable batteries. Kind of like propane exchange. Just roll in and swap empty battery for a full one.

My BIL dropped 106K on an Audi EV. They live in the ATL while I live in Birmingham. They ALWAYS drive my sister's 2015 Mercedes SUV when visiting even though its ~3 hours away. Dumbest big ticket purchase ever.

That's why I still drive a diesel. It's like 10 hours to SWLA from N. Alabama...I fill up at Buc-ees in Athens and then make a stop in Meridian. If I am by myself, that's likely my only stop. I could make it all the way to Hattiesburg or Slidell, but I like the truck stop in Meridian, MS.

350KW charging speeds things up. A tesla cybertruck charges from 15% to 80% in 20 minutes. Still probably annoying on a long trip but much better than before.

Does covered wagon sound like it?

Probably like waiting at the DMV. Only over and over and over and over and over and over...

So she waited 35 hours to save $200.

EV's aren't for everyone.

It's like the pony express.

Wonder if he found charging stations just off the freeway or did he have to go "into" town to find one.
