“When people ask for a blessing, an exhaustive moral analysis should not be placed as a precondition for conferring it,” the declaration, authored by Cardinal Fernandez and another official, states. “The grace of God works in the lives of those who do not claim to be righteous but who acknowledge themselves humbly as sinners, like everyone else.”

I'm not a big Pope Francis fan as he is an about-face from my beloved Pope Benedict, but at least he is 87 yo.

People living in sin most definitely have received blessings.

bullshite.

He absolutely should bless homosexuals as everyone.

But he shouldn't bless sin.

Blessing a same sex relationship is akin to an endorsement.

It's shameful.

He's not blessing sin.

When I receive a blessing, I don't understand that to be a blessing of my sins. It's a blessing of my soul. Same for everyone else.

The Church doesn't perform same-sex wedding so how did you draw the conclusion that he's blessing homosexuality? It's not like he's blessing their unions.

Perhaps real Catholics will now have some sympathy for Luther and the Reformers because now they will lead the 21st century Reformation.

I'd love to hear how the mass experience has changed for "real Catholics." What has changed about being Catholic since Pope Francis became pope?

This is bored people looking for reasons to be offended.

Did you regularly attend TLM? I guess I could point to that too, but in reality, I never attended TLM, so it didn't affect me personally. I do understand why those who do enjoy TLM were upset though.

The context is specifically same sex relationships. Not sure why you can’t get past this.

You asked for an example. That was a big deal for a lot of people.

The new ruling says it is opening “the possibility of blessings for couples in irregular situations and for couples of the same sex” although says it is leaving decisions to “the prudent and fatherly discernment of ordained ministers.”

quote:

While the pope has not changed the church’s opposition to gay marriage nor has he changed Catholic sexual teachings, he has sought to emphasise a pastoral and sensitive approach, which is having a significant impact on LGBTQ Catholics.
