My doctor doesn't ask that ridiculous question unless it's pertinent to an issue.

Why would you ever lie to your doctor? Do you think he’s going to shoot you if you lie?

A. They are already assuming you are lying.
B. If you lie your liver enzyme numbers will be elevated and they will eventually figure out you are lying.
c. They dont mind you wrecking yourself, thats your decision. But once they get that blood work, you are done If you continually lie about the drinking they will eventually stop asking until the numbers are worrysome..

I always struggle with knowing how to honestly answer that question. 48 weeks it’s about 5 drinks/week. For 2 weeks, it’s about 12. For the final 2 weeks, it’s about 30 (FF draft weekend at friend’s camp, vacation).

I tell him zero because I don’t drink. I’ve got enough wrong with me already that I don’t need alcohol ruining whatever progress I’ve already made.

I go every three months. Blood work once a year.

We have the same conversation every time.

"You're too heavy."

"Agreed."

"It's bad for your health."

"Who has the better blood work?"

"...."

You sound like my dad. I always tell him they can’t treat him accurately if he doesn’t tell the truth about that. I think he thinks they’ll judge him or some shite. But I tell him they don’t give a shite how much he drinks, they just need to know for health purposes.

I tell the truth followed up with a lot less than I used to.

I figure my 5-6 miller lites 3-4 days a week is better than killing liquor.

My blood work is normal BTW. I did have blood work done 2 days after a week at the beach, for a stingray sting, my numbers were elevated

An internal medicine doctor isn't going to judge you even moreso they don't want to be the one responsible to fix any behavior. My doctor last year shrugged when I told him I smoke half a pack a day.
